Meet Michelle, our Branch Manager
Michelle brings over 22 years of experience to her role as our Godalming manager. She previously worked with another care provider for 18 of those years and recalls “opening and running the office in Farnborough. In addition to this, I have worked within domiciliary care in Aldershot, starting as a care worker, then working as field care supervisor, care coordinator and care manager. I also have nursing home experience.”
Michelle has also gained a wealth of qualifications, including NVQ Level 3 and 4 in Health and Social Care, Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults & Children, Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguarding, and Health & Safety.
“I joined Helping Hands because of the whole ethos of the company,” she adds. “It’s a family-run business which has real passion and drive to provide a high level of care.”
Home care visits in Guildford & Godalming to suit your routine
Visiting care from one of our local carers based in Godalming can be ideal if you need some additional support. You might be recovering from an operation or need some help with getting around the house.
Whether you just need someone to pop in first thing in the morning to help you out of bed or extra support going about your daily routine, our visiting carers can assist with:
Personal care- making sure you’re comfortable and respecting your privacy
Medication management- reminding you to take any tablets you need and helping with swallowing
Complex care- managing catheters and stomas, and helping with transfers or mobility aids.
Because your home is also your private space, our carers will also ensure that it is kept in pristine condition by carrying out light household duties. We’ll even help to take care of any pets you have – after all, they’re part of the family as well!
The carers and office staff are all lovely. Not only do the carers provide fantastic care for dad but mum has expressed how supportive they are to her during this difficult time.

24-hour live-in care for complete peace of mind and support
Over time, you might find that you need care on a more regular basis or help during the night. Or, you might have a relative who is at risk of falls and you want someone to be there to make sure they’re safe.
Rather than moving into a residential or nursing home, live-in care allows you to get the support you need at all times within your own home. Your own live-in carer, carefully chosen based on your needs and personality, will be on hand to help when you need them, carrying out different aspects such as showering, dressing, and mobility support.
Live-in care also allows you to have a supportive companion to help you get around your local community. And if you have a particular hobby or interest, or just want to spend an afternoon with loved ones, your live-in carer will take care of everything for you.
Short-term care if you have to leave a loved one
If you’re one of the seven million people in the UK caring for a loved one, then you’ll know how difficult it can be to get some time for yourself. Respite care allows you to have a few days’ rest while still ensuring that the person you’re caring for still has the support they’re accustomed to.
So that there is as little disruption as possible, our Godalming respite carers follow your routine and guidance, making sure that your loved one’s wellbeing is their main focus. And if you have to leave them due to a family emergency or you yourself become ill, our carers can often be put in place quickly.
Respite care lasts anywhere between a few days and a fortnight. You can also use it to get a clearer picture about how home care can support your family later on.
One-to-one care for complex needs
Being diagnosed with an advanced condition such as Parkinson’s or cerebral palsy means having to ask specific questions about how the condition will affect your day-to-day life.
Working with an expert team of clinical nurse managers, we can help you or a relative to get the support you need, without having to move into a nursing home and go through the upheaval this change can bring.
Our fully-trained clinical carers can carry out hoisted transfers, manage catheters and stomas, and take care of any specific medication you might be on. We also understand how important your friends and family will be in supporting you, which is why we’ll always work around the care they might be giving you and help you keep in touch with your social circles.
Your needs may become more advanced as time goes on, and so the care you’ll need may also change. But don’t worry, our managers will take care of everything for you and make sure that you’re always getting the support that’s right for you.
Specialist dementia support in your area
There are various types of dementia, and each one affects people in different ways. This is why we always provide a tailored service with our dementia care.
Utilising our 30 years’ experience, our carers understand the importance of a familiar routine and environment when supporting someone with dementia. They’ll work with you to learn how the condition affects your loved one and how they can help them retain their independence.
Whether it’s just offering gentle reminders with meals or helping with showering and personal care, your carers will make sure your loved one is safe and help you to stay together as a family.
Industry-endorsed training for carers in Guildford & Godalming
Coming from all walks of life and backgrounds, our carers all have care in their hearts. So that they provide the best possible support for you and your family, each one goes through a detailed training programme endorsed by Skills for Care, the strategic body for adult social care.
Our training covers a whole variety of areas, from how to carry out personal care to ensuring safety when carrying out transfers and using wheelchairs. And because we believe in helping our carers to be the best they can be, we also offer regular refresher training to make sure their skills are always at the highest level.
We also carry out extended DBS and background checks so that you have a carer you and your family can rely on and trust.
Michelle and her team will also check on both of you on a regular basis to see how you’re getting on and handle any changes you’d like to make to your care plan.
Helping Hands is a very professional company, with very high values and requirements, without substituting the beautiful human side.
