Live-in care and visiting care in Huddersfield

A large market and university town in West Yorkshire, Huddersfield has lots of hidden gems and secrets of its past. In 1895, the town invented the sport of rugby which is commemorated in the John Smiths Stadium, along with the historic win of all four Rugby League Cups by the Huddersfield Giants in 1914. But sporting accolades aside, Huddersfield is now a home for one of the leading home care providers in the UK – Helping Hands.

Along with her dedicated team of carers, Branch Manager Angela is here to provide person-centred support to families across Huddersfield, Holmfirth, Scammonden, Marsden, Meltham, Armitage Bridge, Flockton Moor, Mirfield and the surrounding areas.

Meet Angela McGuinness, our Branch Manager

Angela McGuinness, Branch Manager for Halifax and Huddersfield

"Hello, I’m Angela, and as a Branch Manager I am responsible for making sure that we only offer support which is of the highest standard. I also ensure that all staff run a safe, responsive, caring and effective service.

"I have 20 years of experience in the care industry. During this time, I have fulfilled the roles of a Care Assistant in both home care and a nursing home as well as worked as a Supervisor, Coordinator, Trainer and Registered Manager with the Care Quality Commission.

"From carrying out extensive research, I found that Helping Hands has an ethos that I agree with. I came into this line of work to provide excellent assistance to people within my community and I truly believe that Helping Hands will help me to do this."

Live-in care for constant, ongoing support

You may find that you need more intensive support throughout the day and night, but the idea of moving into a residential home is upsetting for you. Home is where the heart is, and that’s exactly why Angela and her team provide live-in care that gives you round-the-clock support in the home you know and love.

Designed to fit entirely around you and your routines, live-in care ensures that you always have someone to call on – no matter what time of day. And with all of our carers completing award-winning training at our bespoke training facility in Warwickshire, they are fully equipped to support with anything from personal care and medication through to complex support such as PEG feeding and stroke aftercare.

Domiciliary care within your control

We understand that acknowledging the need for care can be unnerving for you and your surrounding family. But worry not, Angela and her team will work closely with you to provide guidance and support to alleviate any worries that you may have. And what’s more, we’ll only be there to help out where you want us to. With you at the reigns, the control of your care is entirely in your hands.

Domiciliary care from our Huddersfield team is more than just practical support; your mental wellbeing is important to us too. If you’re experiencing feelings of loneliness and simply need a companion, then we can arrange for one of our friendly carers to pop in for a cup of tea and a chat with you. Or if football is your passion, we’ll by your side at The John Smith’s Stadium in a blue and white scarf.

Specialist dementia support from our expert team

As one of the leading dementia specialists in the UK, we’re proud to be an ambassador for dementia care. And with experience in the many different variants of dementia – including frontotemporal dementia, Alzheimer’s and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease – we have the knowledge and understanding of how to support you and your loved ones throughout every step of your dementia journey.

We understand the importance of feeling safe and settled when living with dementia, that’s why we’ll provide a bespoke support plan that provides consistency and continuity with your care – all within the comfort and familiarity of your own home.

Elderly care for your peace of mind

As we grow older, we can often start to experience difficulty with our day-to-day life. Whether it’s a decline in our mobility or experiencing visual or hearing impairments, these difficulties can often have an impact on our confidence when going about our usual routines. But one thing that could make your life that little bit easier is a friendly carer from our Huddersfield team. With elderly care from Angela and her team, you’ll have someone there to support you both practically and emotionally – even if it’s for 30 minutes a week or more regular visits throughout the day.
