The team of dedicated carers are here to provide bespoke home care services to individuals across Halifax, Flockton Moor, Ripponden, Elland, Holmfield, Rastrick, Mill Bank, Rishworth, Ovenden, Illingworth, Boothtown, Greetland, Pellon, Siddal and the surrounding areas.
"I am passionate about coaching and developing people to achieve their career goals and aspirations, motivating them to deliver an outstanding level of service to our customers, colleagues and carers. What gets me out of bed in the morning is knowing that today could be the day that I make a real difference to someone. To relax when not working I love nothing more than spending time with family and long walks along the Northumberland coast with my three crazy dogs."
For over 30 years, we've been supporting people with care, nurse-supported care and companionship across England and Wales. As industry-leaders in home care, we know what it takes to provide the right level of care so that you can retain your independence in the comfort of your beloved home.

Our amazing team of carers have been providing person-centred care to thousands of individuals in their own homes for over 30 years. Whether you are struggling with your mobility and would like some support when you go out into the community, or you are living with a complex condition and you require more intensive support throughout the day – visiting care can make a real difference to your quality of life and wellbeing.
Whether you need 30-minute drop-ins to help you around the house or more regular support throughout the day and night, we’ll work with you to provide a personalised care plan that gives you the support you need to feel safe and independent at home. With dedicated care that is unobtrusive and bespoke to your needs, we’ll pop in whenever you need us so that you feel fully supported with no compromise to your independence.
We understand that care needs can often be unpredictable, so if your care needs change or your symptoms develop, we’ll ensure that your care plan is always flexible so that we can quickly adapt to your needs as and when they change. What’s more, we’ll always work collaboratively with you and your loved ones so that the control of your care is always exactly where it should be – in your hands.
If you need more intensive support that requires round-the-clock care but the idea of moving into a residential or nursing home is unnerving for you, live-in care could be the perfect solution for you. With you at the fore, we’ll work closely with you and your loved ones to provide a bespoke live-in care plan that offers unintrusive, constant support so that you always have someone to call on. What’s more, we’ll work with you to handpick a carer that is compatible with your personality, hobbies and interests, so you will always have someone that you can call a friend.
Each of our live-in carers complete a comprehensive training course at our bespoke training centre in Warwickshire, so they are fully equipped to provide only the best level of care to all of our customers. And in addition to this training, each of our live-in carers have the support of our expert team of clinicians who are able to care for those living with more complex conditions such as acquired brain or spinal injuries, stroke aftercare, PEG feeding, stomas and catheters. Your carer will get to know you and your needs, routines and preferences, so you can rest assured that you are safe in the hands of our team and will always be treated with respect and dignity.
With domiciliary care from the team, you’ll have full control over the frequency and intensity of your care needs. With you at the reigns, you decide on the life you want to live and we’ll be there to support you along the way – whether that’s with your personal care, keeping on top of your household chores or with helping you to go out and meet your friends for lunch.
Domiciliary care from our Halifax team is so much more than just practical support – we’ll encourage you to make the most of each day and support you to go wherever you need to be, whenever you need to be there. So if you like to go out for a walk around Manor Heath Park in the mornings with your beloved dog, we’ll make sure that you have the right support to do so.
With over 920,000 people living with dementia in the UK, the need for accessible support and information has never been higher. And with over 100 different variants of the condition, each person living with dementia can be affected in their own individual way – which can be incredibly unnerving for that individual and their surrounding family. With specialist dementia care from the team, there is never a one-size-fits-all approach. We’ll work closely with you and your loved ones to get to know you and your routines and preferences, so that we can tailor-make a dementia care plan that is completely unique to you.
Dementia care covers a whole host of different needs, from practicalities such as household chores, personal care and mobility support, to emotional support and companionship. That’s why we’ll get to know you and the person you are behind the dementia, so we can help you to feel safe and secure in the comfort and familiarity of your own home.
As we get older, it’s not uncommon to find that your reaction times are slower or you become less steady on your feet – but that doesn’t mean that you have to forego your independence if you need a little extra help. With elderly care from the team, we’ll give you as much or as little support as you need to feel safe and independent at home.
Whether you live alone, as a couple or with a four-legged friend, we’ll work with you and your loved ones to establish your way of life so that we can fit your care around your needs and preferences.
When the need arises for respite care, we understand it can be unnerving to find a suitable option for you – especially if you need care to be put in place as soon as possible. With respite care from the team, we’ll meet with you and your usual caregiver or loved ones to understand your routine and requirements, and work with you to ensure that we put a package of care in place with a seamless transition between carers and minimal disruption to your routine. If your usual caregiver has to tend to an emergency or there has been a last-minute change of circumstance and you need support immediately, we can arrange for care to be put in place in as little as 24 hours from your initial enquiry.
Respite care is also available if you’re looking to go on a short break away or to a milestone family occasion such as a wedding or birthday. If there’s somewhere you’d like to be but you’re concerned about your care needs, we’ll ensure that you have a friendly carer to assist you so that you can continue to do the things you love to do – with no detriment to your quality of care.
Helping Hands was founded by Mary Lee in 1989, and since then we have been training each of our carers to ensure that they provide only the very best care for each and every one of the families we look after. But perhaps most importantly, each of our carers are only able to achieve this high standard because of their passion, empathy and willingness to go above and beyond – all of which are qualities that are pivotal to becoming a part of our team.
Prior to going out into the field, each of our carers complete a comprehensive training course that covers a range of in-depth skills such as dementia care, safeguarding, moving and handling, mobility support and many more. And as the only home care provider to be endorsed as a Centre of Excellence by Skills for Care, you can rest assured that you are in safe hands.
Fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), we always ensure that our service is responsive, safe and effective and always adhering to strict CQC regulations. Being audited by an independent association ensures that we always deliver on our promise – to provide outstanding, person-centred care to each and every one of our customers.
We are actively collecting and monitoring our reviews and feedback for Halifax to ensure our customers receive the best possible live in and home care service.
