Visiting care and live-in care in Dewsbury

Dewsbury has a long and interesting history, having been influenced heavily by industrialisation and the arrival of the canal network. It became a centre for Chartist agitation and saw its population rise from 4,566 in 1801 to around 30,000 by 1890.

At Helping Hands, we’ve seen large scale growth since 1989 and have gone from one branch to well over 100, and our live-in and visiting care services support our customers to live their best lives possible in the home they love.

Meet the team

Bethany Smith

Meet Bethany Smith, our Branch Manager, Leeds

"Hello, I'm Bethany and as the manager for the Leeds branch I am responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day running of our service. I ensure that all care packages are covered, all carers feel confident through regular training and one-to-ones and that we are compliant with the CQC.

"I am originally from a mining town in the North East and then I moved to North Yorkshire in 2014.

"I joined Helping Hands in 2016 with the York branch and have held various roles within my time here. Originally, I started as full time carer whilst studying at university. I then returned from maternity leave and began my role as field care supervisor. I was then promoted to care coordinator, which I did for almost two years and thoroughly enjoyed, before being successful as branch manager for Leeds."

Better than a care agency in Dewsbury

Being a private home care company rather than an agency means we look after our carers by employing them directly and ensuring they are always supported. That means they are always highly motivated to support our customers expertly, which is why we’re better than an agency. It’s not just our carers who benefit though; our customers get the benefit of happy and valued carers and also the superlative operational support that only comes from a private company.

Domiciliary care for you

We’ve been the homecare specialists since we were founded in 1989 and even though we’ve now grown to offer support across England and Wales, we haven’t lost sight of our original ethos, which is to offer the highest possible standards of care to our customers, enabling them to live their best quality of life within the home they love. Your domiciliary care is always tailored around you and your routines, so you’re always kept at the centre of your own care journey.

Experienced dementia care at home

You may not need professional dementia care right away after a diagnosis, however it’s a good idea to talk to loved ones as soon as possible about your preferences for your eventual care, as if the time comes that you do require it, your wishes will then be known and acted upon. With Helping Hands, there is always guidance & support available for you and your loved ones and as your condition progresses being able to remain in your own home means it may help to reduce confusion and anxiety for you.

Short term respite care for additional support

Even in an emergency, we can get usually get care to you within 24 hours, which will be a great reassurance for you and your loved ones. You may need respite care for several reasons – your regular carer may need to take a break, your loved ones may be going on holiday, or perhaps you’re recovering from an accident or illness. Our expert carers will support your routines and preferences thanks to your personalised support plan which will ensure all your needs are met.

Elderly care for extra support

When household tasks are starting to take longer than they used to and you’re feeling less strong that you once did, elderly care from Helping Hands, can support you to live your best life at home. Our compassionate carers can undertake personal care, vacuuming, preparing meals, help you to and so much more, meaning you get to live a more relaxed pace of life while all your essential tasks get done.

Fully trained carers in Dewsbury

We train our compassionate and empathetic carers from when they join us and in addition, we only select people who share our ethos for providing the highest standards of personalised care and screen them through the DBS. Consequently, you can be sure that the carers coming to your home should be there, due to stringent levels of checking and thanks to our full regulation by the Care Quality Commission and Care Inspectorate Wales you can trust every aspect of our expert care delivery.
