Visiting care and home care in Swaffham

Swaffham has a rich history dating back many years to the coming of the Angles and Saxons. The town was an important market centre by the 14th century as an emerging sheep and wool location. One of Swaffham’s notorieties is the medieval folklore of Black Shuck, the tale about a black dog who wandered the area and those nearby, attacking merchants who were heading to larger towns nearby to sell their wares. Even today there is a rumour of a black puma-like cat wandering the area. At Helping Hands, we were curious to discover if these tales were all that the area could offer so decided to get to know Swaffham better. This we’ve achieved by bringing our exceptional visiting and live-in care to the area, all of which is fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission and the Care Inspectorate Wales.

High quality home care in Swaffham

We believe in person-centred care above all else at Helping Hands, going the extra mile to make sure that our customers remain comfortable, happy, and secure in the home they love. We’ve been considered one of the UK’s premiere private home care companies since we were founded in 1989, however that doesn’t mean we ever rest on our laurels. We work tirelessly to improve our services and constantly make them the best they can be, meaning you ad your loved ones get reassurance that you really are in the best hands possible.

    24/7 live in care support

Live-in care takes everything that’s fantastic about visiting care and builds upon it. Instead of you having someone with you for an hour or two at a time they’re with you around the clock, giving you and your loved ones reassurance that you’re never alone at home. Giving you companionship whenever you need it and the flexibility to complete jobs as and when you like them done, your carer will carry out essential tasks and also accompany you out of the house when you wish to. Whether you have mild or complex care needs we’ll be the person by your side who can help you to make the most of every single day.

Why Helping Hands is better than a care agency in Swaffham

Care agencies are totally different from private care companies, but from the outside the differences may not be that obvious. Both will provide you with care in your home but that’s where the similarities sadly end, as an agency will charge for ‘finding’ you a carer then expect you to do everything else yourself. Helping Hands is completely different though, as we’re a private home care company and have been since we were established in 1989. We’ll design you a bespoke care package and match you with one of our directly employed carers, then manage everything about your care, all as part of the service.

Qualified carers providing a variety of care services in Swaffham

We’re proud of the fact that we take our applicants through the entirety of their recruitment journey ourselves, without having to rely on outside agencies who won’t know what we’re looking for in a carer. We handle every aspect of their sourcing, assessing, and development ourselves, meaning that we can employ the people who share our values and passion for delivering only the very highest quality care at all times. We then equip them with all of the skills they’ll need and build on their existing knowledge to best support their customers. We even have our own in-house training academy that helps our people develop as their careers progress.

    FAQs

Home care in Swaffham is professional support provided in your own home, helping you or a loved one stay safe, comfortable and independent without needing to move into residential care. It can be arranged as regular visiting care, occasional support, respite care, or full-time live-in care, depending on your needs.

With Helping Hands, care is built around your routine, so support can include anything from help getting up in the morning to companionship, meal preparation, medication prompts, mobility support and personal care.

Home care can include a wide range of practical, personal and emotional support. This may include help with washing, dressing, toileting, medication prompts, preparing meals, light housework, shopping, attending appointments, mobility support and companionship.

Care can be flexible, from short visits during the week to several visits a day or live-in care. The right level of support will depend on your needs, routines and preferences.

A carer can help with everyday tasks that have become difficult to manage alone. This might include getting in and out of bed, washing and dressing, preparing meals, moving safely around the home, taking medication, keeping the house tidy, going shopping, attending appointments or simply having someone there for companionship.

The aim is to provide the right amount of support while helping you maintain independence, dignity and confidence at home.

The cost of home care in Swaffham depends on the type and amount of support you need. Helping Hands’ visiting care prices currently start from £32.40 per hour, with visits available from 30 minutes, and live-in care currently starts from £1,675 per week for one person. A call-out or travel charge may also apply.

Because everyone’s needs are different, the best way to get an accurate price is to arrange a care assessment. This helps create a tailored care plan and a clear breakdown of costs before care begins.

Home care can be cheaper than a care home, especially if you only need support for part of the day or a few times a week. Age UK says privately arranged home care can cost around £25 per hour, while residential care averages around £949 per week and nursing home care around £1,267 per week, although costs vary by area and needs.

For people who need round-the-clock support, live-in care may be closer in cost to residential care, but it allows you to remain in your own home, keep familiar routines and receive one-to-one support.

Yes. Helping Hands states that its service is regulated by the Care Quality Commission, or CQC, in England and the Care Inspectorate Wales, or CIW, in Wales. These regulators monitor care providers to make sure they meet required standards for safety, quality and care delivery.

Individual branch ratings can vary, so it is always worth checking the relevant local branch profile when arranging care in Swaffham.

Home care in Swaffham can often be arranged quickly, depending on your needs, location and carer availability. In many cases, care can begin within a few days, and urgent support may be possible sooner following an assessment.

The first step is usually a conversation about your situation, followed by a care assessment and a personalised care plan. This helps make sure the right support is in place from the start.
