Gateway to the North of Somerset, Weston-super-Mare is an ideal family holiday spot and is a particular favourite getaway for Midlanders alike. As well as having long stretches of sandy beaches that are perfect for taking a leisurely stroll and soaking up the salty air, this coastal town was also a favourite holiday destination during the 19th century where it saw its size grow from around 100 people to over 20,000. Now home to nearly 80,000 inhabitants, Weston is also home to a team of Helping Hands carers.
Get in touch with our team today to discuss your requirements and together we will create a care package tailored to your needs. From weekly visits to full-time live-in care, there is a Helping Hands carer prepared to provide all the support required to uphold your independence.
“Hello! I'm Sarah, the Manager at Helping Hands’ Weston-super-Mare Branch, which covers all of North Somerset and the surrounding areas. I am really excited to be bringing the Helping Hands name to the area and hopefully get the chance to meet you. At Helping Hands, the range of services we offer is huge. We cover from just 30 minutes to full time live-in care. I will do all I can to enable customers to remain in the comfort of their own homes, assisting them to live safely and as independently as possible.
“I love getting out and about in the local area and meeting our customers, getting to know them and then matching them with carers who meet their needs. I feel passionate about creating job opportunities for local people who also want to make a difference and do something rewarding.”

Fully flexible care packages as your needs change
Flexible care provided in your own home with a fully qualified carer. Visits start from as little as 30 minutes up to several hourly or overnight calls throughout the week.
One-to-one support from a fully qualified care that lives with you. Full-time support so you can stay at home where you feel most comfortable.
For over 30 years, we’ve been providing expert care to individuals across England and Wales, enabling them to stay in the place where they know and love; their home. From as little as 30-minute visits to help you to change the bed sheets, all the way up to regular visits throughout the day to help you with continence care, we’ll put a package of visiting care in place that suits your routine and requirements.
With experience in supporting a variety of different conditions including Alzheimer’s, acquired brain injuries and cerebral palsy amongst any others – the team at Weston-super-Mare will get to know how your symptoms effect you and work alongside you to find the best solution. And if your needs or symptoms change, we can easily adapt the type of care you receive and how often we visit.
Taking care of the whole individual rather than just taking care of their practical needs is extremely important too. So, if it’s someone to take you down to the Grand Pier for the afternoon for an ice cream or a friendly face to pop in and have a chat over a cup of tea, companionship is something that we can also offer.
Round-the-clock live-in care is a great option for you if you require more intensive support but don’t want to go into a residential home. Matched with you via your personality, care needs and preferences, your live-in carer will come and live with you in your home and provide you with the one-to-one support you need to enable you to continue living at home in comfort.
A live-in care package can start from as little as three days and continue on a more permanent basis, depending on your preferences. What’s more, your carer will be solely looking after you and no one else so you’ll can have complete peace of mind that all of your needs are being met.
All of our live-in carers are supported by our local managers and a team of clinical nurses, so you can rest assured that you have expert assistance every step of your care journey – whether you need help with PEG feeding, a tracheotomy, catheter or stoma.
Also known as visiting care, domiciliary care allows you to choose when, where and how you receive your care. This type of support can be suitable if you need an extra pair of hands to help with the housework, regular assistance with your personal care or support to get back on your feet after an accident or injury.
Having support with personal care or tasks around the house means that you or your loved one can continue to live comfortably and independently in the place you know and love; your home.
Dementia can often be a condition that is misunderstood and can be the cause of confusion and upset. With more and more people being diagnosed with one of the many different types of dementia, we know how important it is to train our carers to the highest standards when it comes to understanding this condition and the best way to care for someone with dementia. Most importantly, our carers can reassure you that you are certainly not alone.
As a member of the Dementia Action Alliance (DAA), we’re determined to enable as many people as possible to ‘live well’ and not ‘suffer from’ the condition. So even if you need daily reminders to get dressed and have some breakfast or support when your memory becomes more affected, we’ll be there every step of the way.
Our Weston team has a wealth of experiences when it comes to elderly care and can offer a variety of support for when you start to need a bit of extra help in your more senior years such as:
Irrespective of whether you’re living alone or with a partner, we’ll meet with you to discuss what you might need assistance with and then put care in place, which can always be altered at a later date if you find yourself needing extra support.
It’s important that everyone takes time to rest and relax, but even more so if you’re a permanent carer for a relative or friend. With respite care, you can both be assured that care will be delivered of the highest quality without impacting on your existing routines. With a short break, it gives you both the chance to recharge your batteries, which can be a vital part of your care routine.
Respite care can also be suitable if you want to take a holiday with your family or carer or if your regular carer needs to attend an emergency. Within as little as 24 hours, we can put a package of care in place that allows you to have complete confidence that all of your care needs will be catered for.
Making a real difference to people’s lives is why our carers decide to join the Helping Hands family, and this innate quality of looking after others is what we look for when recruiting carers. In addition to being naturally empathetic people, we also ensure every single carer is trained to the highest level so that they can consistently deliver the best care possible.
All of our carers go through our award-winning training programme either at the Weston branch or at our bespoke training centre in Warwickshire (live-in carers only). Modules such as manual handling, personal care, medication, dementia and first aid are delivered by our expert trainers, as well as all carers having a mandatory Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check.
We’re also a fully-regulated service that is regularly inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), who check that we’re offering safe, effective and responsive care.
We are actively collecting and monitoring our reviews and feedback for Weston-super-Mare to ensure our customers receive the best possible live in and home care service.
