Personalised visiting care packages in Bristol

A city that straddles the river Avon, Bristol is sometimes referred to as the ‘Birthplace of America’, after John Cabot sailed from Bristol on The Matthew to help ‘discover’ North America in 1497. While Bristol is home to a rich maritime history, Bristol Cathedral and the elusive street-artist, Banksy, it is now also home to a team of expert Helping Hands carers.

From 30 minutes a week to full-time live-in care, our Bristol team are here to support you and your loved ones in Bristol, Kingswood, Downend, Whitchurch, Oldland Common, Southmead, Henleaze, Filton, Frenchay, Patchway, Stoke Gifford, Bradley Stoke, Pucklechurch, Severnbeach, Brislington, Clifton, Seamills and the surrounding areas.

Meet Katherine, our Branch Manager

It’s Katherine’s role to develop her team of carers who she describes as “friendly and professional”. On a daily basis she meets with new customers, carries out assessments and ensures the smooth running of the Bristol branch.

Katherine says: “I really enjoy working in care and giving someone the opportunity to feel loved and supported in their own home is such a rewarding experience. I feel that our team provide a great service to make this happen in Bristol.”

Tailored visiting care to support you in Bristol

When the need for more intensive support arises, we understand that residential care isn’t everybody’s first choice. Equally, we appreciate the difference it can make to be surrounded by your own home comforts, especially if you are adapting to life following a life-changing diagnosis, illness or injury. That’s why Katherine and her team are here to provide dedicated, tailor-made care packages that are built by and around you.

We have specialised in person-centred care since our inception in 1989, and we are proud to be recognised as one of the UK’s leading home care providers. Our carers are all expertly-trained and have experience in conditions ranging from motor neurone disease, dementia, cerebral palsy, mental health conditions and many more. What’s more, they all have the very quality that is paramount to delivering an excellent level of service: they all genuinely care.

With home visits available from 30 minutes per call up to several drop-ins a day, Katherine and her team are here to give you the support you need to remain safe and independent at home, whenever you need it.

Bristol live-in care packages for round-the-clock support

Whether you’re living alone or as a couple, it can be difficult to come to terms with the fact that the care needs of you or your loved one are increasing. It can also be quite daunting to consider the prospect of inviting someone new to live with you in your home. But with friendly reassurance from Katherine and her team, we’re here to alleviate your worries and provide the support you need so that you can continue your everyday life with minimal disruption – just with a little help along the way.

Our live-in care packages are completely tailored to you and your individual needs, so we can be here for you in whichever way you need us to. Whether you need support with your mobility while you take a trip over to Cribbs Causeway or you enjoy walking around the city to find the hidden work of Banksy, your carer will be right there with you every step of the way.

If you are living with a more complex condition and you require more intensive support, our expert clinical nurse team are here to support you with anything from acquired brain or spinal injuries or tracheostomy care. Choosing Helping Hands rather than a care agency in Bristol

When deciding on the right type of care for you, there are lots of things to consider and it can be quite a stressful time for you and your loved ones. Care agency services tend to introduce you to a carer and then leave you to manage the contract with them, including the paperwork, their pay and even finding a replacement carer if your carer becomes unavailable. But with Helping Hands Bristol, we’ll take care of all of that for you – from recruiting individuals who are passionate about caring for others, training them to the highest industry standards and ensuring they have the right skills and personality to fit in with you, to arranging their breaks and pay, ensuring they have been fully vetted by the Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) and also making sure there will be a carer to fill in for them should they become unwell or need to take a holiday.

Most elderly care agencies aren’t regulated by the governing body for care in England – the Care Quality Commission (CQC) – which means that they are not inspected for their safety, efficacy or responsiveness, unlike Helping Hands Bristol. We pride ourselves on adhering to strict industry standards set by the CQC, giving you peace of mind that you are in safe hands.

Domiciliary care in Bristol

As a company that is built on a foundation of family values, we understand how important it is for you to feel free and independent in your own home; that’s why our Bristol team provide dedicated domiciliary care to ensure that you have the support you need so that you can feel comfortable at home.

Traditionally known as care at home, domiciliary care gives you the freedom to choose the frequency and intensity of your care, all within the walls of the place you know best – your home. So whether you need support for you, your partner or just a helping hand with walking your beloved pet, our Bristol team are here for you.

Elderly care for you or your loved ones in Bristol

Growing older is inevitable, and sometimes we may need a little more support in going about our day-to-day lives – but that doesn’t mean that you have to make any compromises to your independence to accommodate that. With bespoke elderly care packages from our Bristol team, we’re here to give you the support you need to remain comfortable and independent at home.

With more and more people experiencing loneliness in their elderly years, our carers are here to give you more than just practical support; we’ll provide companionship. So, whether you want someone to pop in for a cup of tea and a chat in the afternoon, or you would like someone to enjoy the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta with – we’re here for you.

Respite care for short-term support

Whether you are a full-time carer for your loved one and you’re in need of some rest and recuperation, or you’re in need of temporary support while your usual caregiver takes their break, Katherine and her team are here to provide bespoke respite care packages that give you the expert support you need, when you need it.

Whether you need temporary support to help you get back on your feet after a hospital admission, or you want to take a day trip to Cheddar Gorge but don’t feel comfortable going on your own, we can support you with any of the following instances:

  • Family holidays – We can support you while you enjoy a break away with your family
  • Short break – We can accompany to where you want to go so that you feel supported
  • Hospital discharge – Helping you to get back on your feet after some time in hospital
  • One-off occasions – Support to attend milestone events such as a wedding or birthday party

Fully-trained live-in carers in Bristol

We’ve been dedicated to providing person-centred home care to thousands of families across the country for over 30 years, but this wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for our fantastic workforce of carers. Selected for their skills and expertise, kindness and their unfaltering willingness to help others, all of our carers go through a stringent recruitment process including full background checks, such as a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) screening.

To ensure we meet with only the highest standards of care, all aspects of our service are inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), and we are proud to be the only home care provider to be endorsed as a Centre of Excellence by Skills for Care.
