What’s provided with care in Bristol from Helping Hands?

Home care in Bristol covers all of the practical elements of support you may need at home, as well as supporting you emotionally. The aim of home care is to enable you to live life on your terms, maximising your independence, and giving you the choice of what you want to do and when you want to do it.

To do this, our carers can support you with any tasks that you need to carry out for your own wellbeing in your home, such as personal care, mobility support, assistance with medication, household duties, looking after pets, and preparing meals. They’ll also be able to assist you outside of your home too – whether that’s accompanying you to the shops to collect your groceries, or going for you if you are unable to leave your home.

Also included with home care from Helping Hands is emotional support – whether that’s taking you for a trip to Bristol for the day or sitting with you in your garden with a cup of tea. Caring is not just about the practicalities; it’s about companionship and mental health too.

Do you need live in care?

There are many reasons that someone may need home care: a health condition that requires round-the-clock live-in care; assistance with housework and getting to appointments; accompanying you to work or college; elderly care if a loved one is frail and needs daily visits to check they’re safe and well. We support anyone over the age of 18 to 100 and beyond with any activities of daily living that they are unable to do in part or in full by themselves.

Short term carer support plans

Your loved one may have dementia and require regular visiting care throughout the day, and perhaps someone to stay overnight too if they become anxious or confused. Or they may just like someone to pop in twice a week to change the bedsheets and run the vacuum round if they struggle to do this themselves. We can arrange a support plan to fit in with exactly your requirements, involving the individual and their family so that everyone has peace of mind that you or your loved one has the care they need.

Long term intermittent carers available

It’s really important to ensure that if you’re a full-time carer for a family member, you take a break from time to time. It enables you to take some time for yourself whilst also giving your loved one some space. However, you needn’t worry that they will be left without the care and support they need, as the Bristol team can ensure they receive respite care until you’ve returned. If you need three days or you’re planning to go away on holiday for a fortnight, we can step in and take care of your loved one in a seamless way.

Immediate start carers from Helping Hands

There are times when emergencies happen and you urgently need care in place. This could be if your regular caregiver is ill or if you’ve just been discharged from hospital and need some support at home to help you recover fully. Emergency care from the Bristol team is designed to be in place swiftly and effectively, so that you have support as soon as you need it. Our team can usually arrange for carers to be in place on the same day as your enquiry, so you don’t have to worry about being left alone.
