Visiting care and home care in Winchester

Winchester was the first capital city of England and developed from the Roman town of Venta Belgarum, a former Iron Age settlement. Until the Norman conquest, Winchester remained the most important city in England. While no longer the capital, Winchester is still a very important city historically, not least for its stunning grade I listed Norman cathedral, consecrated in 1093.

We at Helping Hands felt we should explore the area more, which is why we wanted to extend our presence and ensure that people are aware of our bespoke and fully flexible visiting and live-in care services.

A smiling elderly woman opens her front door to a carer who stands outside, holding a shopping bag filled with food and flowers. The scene is bright and welcoming, with greenery visible in the foreground.

    Winchester live-in care

Live-in care will see one or more of our compassionate carers living in your own home with you, depending on the severity of your condition. Having someone living with you around the clock is a great comfort to both you and your loved ones, especially if they live some distance away, as your carer will be able to support you with every aspect of your daily routine.

Better than a care agency in Winchester

We’re better than a care agency because we are a fully regulated private home care company whose carers work tirelessly to support our customers every day of the year. We like to look after our carers while they do the same for our customers, and consequently we employ all of our carers directly, never expecting them to be self-employed and facing the uncertainties that it can bring.

    Domiciliary care at home

Domiciliary care is care at home, and for over 30 years we’ve been providing exceptional visiting and live-in care to our thousands of customers. If you need extra support at home to live your daily life then you may feel you have no choice but residential care, however that’s not the case. At home, you get to dictate what time you eat, go to bed, and every other part of your day, benefitting your emotional, as well as physical health.

    Dementia care at home

Remaining in familiar and comforting surroundings for dementia care can be highly beneficial, both physically and emotionally, as being near to precious memories can help to reduce anxiety and confusion at times. Our dedicated dementia specialist carers will be able to support with every aspect of your or your loved one’s daily routine and we can even offer clinical support or nursing if the time comes that it’s required.

    Immediate relief respite care

When you need some short-term support for whatever reason, respite care from Helping Hands can be a preferable and cost-effective alternative to residential care. Perhaps your regular carer needs to take a well-earned break, or your family carers want to take a holiday; regardless of the circumstances, we can support you effectively until your regular carer returns. Even in an emergency we can be with you quickly, usually within 24 hours.

    Elderly care for extra support

If you’re living with age-related frailties or the effects of an accident or ongoing condition you may benefit from some elderly care at home. Our amazing carers can come to your home on either a visiting or live-in basis and ensure that every aspect of your daily routine is supported with personalised, one-to-one care. Whether it’s housework, personal care, preparing you meals or something else, we can ensure that you get to live your best life at home.
