Home care in Alnwick
Visiting care and home care in Alnwick
Situated on the south bank of the River Aln, the historic town of Alnwick dates to about AD 600 and is home to the prestigious Alnwick Castle. The town is also famous for its popular second-hand bookshop, Barter Books, where in 2000 the now famous “Keep Calm and Carry On” World War II poster was discovered in a box of old books.
You can be sure that our staff will always provide the greatest calibre of care because all of our home care services are independently regulated and supervised by the Care Quality Commission and Care Inspectorate Wales.
At Helping Hands Alnwick, we’re passionate about supporting people to carry on living in their own homes, because we believe that home is the best place to receive care.

Branch Care Manager
As a Branch Manager, I am responsible for overseeing all aspects of the day-to-day running of the branch, ensuring that we are fully compliant with both customers and carers. I am also responsible in ensuring that we provide a safe and caring five-star service to our customers whilst ensuring our customers needs are met in line with our fundamental standards. I have a deep passion for excellent care and the services we provide at Helping Hands strive for excellence every time, through improving the skills of my team via training and on the job experiences. In my spare time I enjoy walking and have signed up to do the Macmillan mighty hike in July 2022, walking 26 miles from Alnwick Castle to Bamburgh Castle to raise much needed funds for an organisation very close to my heart! I also enjoy mountain biking, reading and cooking to unwind, as well as spending time with my family.

Other care we provide
High quality home care in Alnwick
We know that when it comes to arranging and receiving care, you’ll naturally have lots of questions and uncertainties. Inviting a stranger into your home to look after you is a major step to take, and we want to provide you with all the peace of mind you need about this decision. That’s why we ensure every Helping Hands carer is expertly trained, fully vetted, and is passionate about providing exceptional care.
24/7 live in care support
One of the areas of care in which we specialise is live-in care, where a carer will come and live in your home with you and provide 24-hour care support. Live-in care is an ideal option for those who need constant, round-the-clock care but don’t wish to move into a residential home. We’ll match you with a carer who shares your personality, hobbies and general outlook on life, so that you haven’t just got a carer but also a valued companion.
Why Helping Hands is better than a care agency in Alnwick
We’re a private care provider rather than a care agency, which means we offer certain guarantees which many agencies don’t. For example, we employ every single one of our carers directly, and provide them with a salary, a pension, employee benefits and job security.
This means that you won’t need to worry about handling payments for your carer, and can be confident that you and you alone are their primary concern. We also offer a continuous service, so if your regular carer is taken ill at short notice, we’ll always have someone cover for them – ensuring you’re not left feeling isolated or unsupported.
Qualified carers providing a variety of care services in Alnwick
We’re extremely proud of our wonderful carers, who truly are exceptional at what they do. We’re very particular about who we hire to our Alnwick care team – we only recruit people who possess kind, compassionate personalities and who share our family values.
Every new carer is enrolled on our industry-leading carer training programme, where they receive training in a wide range of areas such as dementia care, moving and handling, mobility support, and so much more. We also ensure all of our carers have undergone numerous background checks.
