Visiting care and home care in East Sussex

After the Romans departed England, the ancient kingdom of the South Saxons became established in East Sussex in the 5th century AD. The uplands of the area have given up many archeologically important finds since then, some left by the plentiful invaders including the Romans, and the Normans, especially after the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Traditional industries in the area which have now all but disappeared included ironmaking, fishing, and wool, but in their place East Sussex has people working in construction, agriculture, real estate, and many who commute into London daily.

Helping Hands have been supporting people to live as independently as possible in their own homes since we were established in 1989. While we can’t claim a history to rival that of East Sussex, we have been supporting people for decades, which explains why we’re considered one of the UK’s foremost private home care providers. We offer visiting and live-in care to people across the area, all of which is fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission and the Care Inspectorate Wales.

Live-in care is very special – by having someone living in your home you get around the clock support, companionship, and the knowledge that you’re never alone. This isn’t just reassuring for you, it’s also a comfort for your loved ones who may be living further away. While your live-in care in East Sussex carer will ensure all of your practical tasks get completed, such as your meal preparation, personal care, and housekeeping, your carer will also be happy to accompany out of the house to help you enjoy your local surroundings and take part in the community if you’d like to.

Why Helping Hands is better than a care agency in East Sussex

Helping Hands have never been a care agency, we’re a private home care company and always have been. This distinction matters because care agencies traditionally charge you exorbitant fees for tasks that should be included in the service. This includes matching you with a suitable carer, checking their background, and organising their employment. You won’t get comprehensive support from a care agency either, they’ll have little to do with your care experience once they’ve been paid. Helping Hands, however, will always fully manage your service and ensure that your care experience remains consistently excellent.

Qualified carers providing a variety of care services in East Sussex

We look after our carers because they look after you – it’s that simple. We feel that our carers are amazing people for consistently going above and beyond to ensure our customers live well in the home they love. They spend time getting to know their customers and they’ll soon become a trusted friend, meaning you look forward to their visits or having them around every day. Don’t worry that your home won’t feel your own anymore by having someone living in either, as they’ll never overstep boundaries and will always respect your privacy.
