Visiting care and home care in Houghton Regis
Mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Houstone, Houghton Regis is a Bedfordshire town, near Luton. Bordered by the Chiltern Hills, the once small village became a ‘London overspill’ in the 1950s and 60s, causing it to develop massively. Some of the original village characteristics can be recognised in the names of local roads, such as ‘Tithe Farm’. Local industries that are no longer in production include straw plaiting, which in 1689 caused local workers to demonstrate against a bill requiring people to wear woollen hats, claiming it threatened their industry.
Helping Hands are long-established in the care industry, although we can’t claim a history as far back as the 17th century! We were, however, established in 1989 to deliver exceptional care for people in their own homes. Our visiting and live-in care services are fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission and the Care Inspectorate Wales, so you and your loved ones can have full confidence in our services.
