What is community care?

Receiving care in your own home, otherwise known as community care or care in the community, is a viable and preferable alternative for many people who require an extra level of support to live as independently as possible. Our dedicated and friendly local Nottingham care team support many people in the area on both a visiting and live-in basis, providing essential care and companionship from just 30 minutes per week.

If you’ve been contemplating some extra care and support in your home because you’re finding it’s becoming more of a struggle to remain independent, then we are here to help. It can be difficult to admit that you need care at first, especially if you’ve always lived independently and you were always the one people turned to for help, yet this is why remaining in your own home for care is the best solution, keeping you in the place you love best with a level of support decided by you.

Who is community care for?

Whether you have mild or complex needs, you want some extra support with housework or laundry, or to cook a nutritious meal, our amazing carers will be there for you. For more than 30 years we have cared for people exclusively in their homes – we don’t have care homes or residential facilities – as we believe that being at home is the perfect place to promote a person’s wellbeing and help them to live their best life.

Community care is suitable for anyone who needs support, and over the decades we’ve cared for people with dementia, cancer, spinal injuries, MND, mental and physical disabilities and many other conditions. We also care for people as they approach the end of their lives, and by being there for the whole of your care journey our carers soon become valued friends and will emotionally support your loved ones too.

Care in the Nottingham community from Helping Hands

At Helping Hands, we always focus on the individual; ensuring that you remain at the centre of your care experience at all times. We achieve this by designing you a bespoke care package that will be flexible enough to change if it needs to but will always focus on consistent and expert care delivery. You’ll also have a personalised support plan, containing everything you like to do on a daily basis, including your routines, preferences and social activities.

Our visiting care and live in care services are delivered by exceptionally compassionate carers, chosen to work for us because they have such natural qualities of kindness and empathy. This is why we can be so confident when we say you’ll get industry-leading support from us, whenever you need it, and because we’re fully regulated by the CQC and CIW will you and your loved ones will be additionally reassured.

If you would benefit from some support with personal tasks such as getting washed and dressed, continence care, taking your medication and mobility, our carers will become a valued addition to your household, whether you see them once a week or around the clock.
