My father had visiting carers 4 times a day. Two in the morning, one at 12, one at 4 and during the evening for bedtime. The majority of the carers were absolutely fabulous, caring, understanding and helpful. This started on 18th January 2021.
On 14th January this year, my parents had a visit from I believe Occupational Health connected to HHG. Mum and Dad found this person quite rude and they didn’t enjoy the visit. It was to discuss Dad having to start using a hoist instead of the Sara Steady. Dad wasn’t keen as he finds it painful. It was left that a decision would be made at a later date. On Sunday 30th January, my mum was taken into hospital with a heart problem. HHG is fully aware that my father does not have any mobility in his legs and needs assistance to get out of chair, to bathroom etc. On Tuesday 1st February, my father received a telephone call at about 3.30pm to say that HHG would not be going anymore. His next visit was due at 4pm. My father was totally perplexed. They had our contact numbers but chose to upset Dad by contacting him directly. He was alone at the time. The Carer actually turned up as she was literally down the road when the office telephoned her. She went in to see Dad but couldn’t do anything. The next day a letter came to Dad confirming what had been said but luckily we were able to make sure he didn’t read it as he was so upset and also about our Mum.
The 4 stars I have given for the carers themselves. I will not give a star to the HHG as I am totally disgusted how they could drop care at 15 minutes notice knowing the situation . To add insult to injury my father also got a letter the next day to say they were putting their charges up by £2 per hour. Anyone wishing to employ HHG, please make sure you are aware that they charge mileage on top of the hourly rate so they are making money out of that too as the Carers do not get what is charged.
