Home care Stroud

For over 30 years, we have been providing home care to those in need of extra assistance up and down the country. And as industry leaders in visiting care, we really do know what it takes to ensure our customers are fully supported.

Covering both the physical and emotional aspects of visiting care, we’re able to support you if you require help with personal care, mobility or household duties, as well as helping you get to appointments, catching up with friends or just having a natter over a cup of tea. We’ll take the lead from you, so that you’re always in control of the care you receive.

Whether you require a little support for 30 minutes or more detailed care that requires several hourly visits every day, we’ll work with you to create a support plan that fits in with your preferences and needs. That way, you can rest assured that everything is taken care of.

Stroud live-in care to suit your requirements

If you have more intensive care needs or have a complex health condition that requires round-the-clock support, live-in care enables you to have personalised, fully-managed assistance all whilst you remain in the comfort of your own home.

As a direct alternative to residential care, live-in care means that your support plan is designed to fit around you and how you want to live your life. So, you get to choose what time you get up in the morning, what you have for lunch and what activities you might like to spend the afternoon doing – whether that’s visiting one of the many Farmers’ Markets in the area or visiting Berkeley Castle.

We also have a team of experienced nurses on hand, all of whom are registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council, so that we can ensure your private carer can provide the right support for you at home. Whether that’s managing your catheter or stoma, carrying out PEG feeding or providing specialist care after you’ve had a stroke, you can rest assured that you will have all of the assistance that you need to lead a happy and fulfilled life on your terms.

Domiciliary care at home

Having care at home doesn’t just mean that we’ll support you with personal care and medication; we’ll also help out around the house and can even take your beloved dog out for a walk if you’re unable to.

Domiciliary care covers all aspects of care, starting with you and your physical needs, but also including your spiritual and emotional needs. You might find it difficult to get to your local place of worship, or you don’t want to miss out on meeting for your regular book club, but with our friendly carers on hand, you can continue to do what you enjoy doing.

Dementia care and support for you and your family

A dementia diagnosis can be an unsettling time for everyone involved, and with lots of new information and changes in routine, it can be quite overwhelming. That’s where the Stroud team can step in and help. Whether you or your loved one needs someone to pop in and check in on them once a day or if they need help with getting dressed and out of bed in the morning, along with making meals and keeping the house tidy, our carers will be there, with compassion and understanding.

Helping Hands are recognised as a dementia specialist, training all of our carers in the complexities of dementia and its different types, along with providing the very best dementia care for those living with the condition. We are also closely aligned with the Dementia Action Alliance (DAA), who promote best practice in dementia home care across the UK.

Elderly care for extra support

If you’ve recently noticed that you’re unable to do the things you used to do by yourself but don’t like the thought of losing your independence, the Stroud team are just a phone call away and provides specialised elderly care to help you with whatever you need support with. You might need help with taking the bins out once a week because the osteoporosis in your back means you can’t lift heavy things, or you might need someone to make your meals and change your bed sheets because you get tired easily and struggle with the arthritis in your hands. We’ll be there for you to relieve any worries and discomfort you might have, putting a support plan in place to help out where you need us to.

Emergency respite care in times of need

If you’ve recently had a fall or have just been discharged from the hospital and are unable to tend to all aspects of your care, respite care from the Stroud team could be just the thing you need to help you get back on your feet again. With support usually arranged within 24 hours of your initial enquiry, we’ll step in to help you with all manner of care – from helping you with toileting needs, administering medication and preparing food, to keeping on top of the housework, retaining your appointments and getting to and from the shops.

We can also provide respite care for when your regular caregiver needs to take a break to recharge their batteries or deal with any personal matters of their own. We’ll meet with both of you beforehand to ensure that we get everything right and just how you like it, while your regular carer steps back, so that you can both rest assured that you still receive the high quality of care that you expect and your routines are left intact.
