Live-in and visiting care to support you in Cheltenham

When writing about his visits to Cheltenham, Charles Dickens said: “Rarely have I seen such a place that so attracted my fancy.” A spa town that is famous for its Regency town houses, stunning gardens and residency of the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), Cheltenham is also home to one of the UK’s leading home care providers – Helping Hands.

Branch Manager Deborah and her team of expert carers are fully committed to providing you or your loved one with bespoke home care services in Cheltenham, Winchcombe, Gotherington, Southam, Andoversford, Prestbury and the surrounding areas.

Meet Deborah, our Branch Manager

Gloucester branch manager

"Hello I’m Deborah your Branch Manager for the Cheltenham & Gloucester branch of Helping Hands. I have worked in care for over 10 years and feel privileged to be able to keep people at home. I am passionate about job and think quality home care is essential. I have lived and worked in Gloucestershire for 14 years so have great local knowledge. In my free time I enjoy walks in the Cotswolds with my Springer Spaniel Woody and going on lovely holidays with my family and friends."

Mum and Dad noticed the difference in care after just the one visit and are so happy they said they can relax now, something Dad could not do with the others carers. Thank you all.

Live-in care for total peace of mind

When the need for more intensive support arises, we understand that residential care isn’t always everybody’s preference. What’s more, we understand how important it is for you to be able to feel secure and independent in your own home. With live-in care from our Cheltenham team, not only will you have the support you need to stay within the comfort of your own home, but you will be encouraged to live the life that you want to lead.

And we’re not just here to support you with the practical things; your mental wellbeing is important to us too. So whether you enjoy popping in to the luxury shops along the promenade or listening to the thunderous sounds of the horses at the Gold Cup, your live-in carer will support you through whatever it is you need, and they will be your friend along the way too.

If you are living with a complex condition and you require more intensive support, we also have an expert team of clinical nurses to support our live-in carers. So, if you require feeding with a PEG tube or you need regular assistance with your stoma or catheter, Deborah and her team will provide a personalised care package for you that enables you to live comfortably at home.

Domiciliary care in Cheltenham

Helping Hands was founded by Mary Lee in 1989 as a way to give families the support they needed to remain comfortable at home. Thirty years on, we are still providing that exact same person-centred service with the same family values at heart.

Big enough to give you all the support you need yet still small enough to care, Helping Hands is committed to enabling you to remain safe, happy and independent at home. What’s more, with domiciliary care there are no restrictions on mealtimes or menus, no set daily routines and no strict visiting guidelines; the care that you receive is in the hands of the person who matters most – you.

Specialist dementia care to support you and your loved ones

Dementia is an umbrella term that covers over 100 different conditions. They can all affect an individual in different ways, but they can all be equally distressing for the person that is living with the condition and their surrounding family.

As one of the UK’s leading dementia specialists, we’re not just here to give you the practical support that is required with dementia, but we’ll provide guidance for you and your loved ones so that you can learn to understand the condition and its symptoms, allowing you to continue to communicate with each other and enjoy your time together.

Elderly care to support your independence

With 30 years’ experience under our belt, we’ve cared for thousands of elderly individuals and supported them to remain in the place that they feel most comfortable – their home. Whether you would like us to pop in and see you little and often, or you are living with a progressive condition that requires round-the-clock support, Deborah and her team will provide you with a bespoke care package that is built by and around you.

Whether you need support with going about your household chores, assistance with your personal care or simply a companion to pop to the garden centre with for a coffee and a cake, we’re here to support you in whichever way you need.

Respite care for short-term support

The need for respite care can arise for any number of reasons. You could be due to be discharged from hospital but don’t feel safe being at home on your own, or perhaps you’d like to go and visit the Cotswolds for the weekend but you feel that you need some support in getting out and about. Regardless of what it is you need, Deborah and her team can provide a personalised respite care package that gives you the level of support you need, for as long as you need it.

Whether you are planning a holiday far in advance or an emergency has come up and you need care to start immediately, our Cheltenham team are here whenever you need them, and can often put a package of care in place within 24 hours of your initial enquiry.

Fully trained carers to support you in Cheltenham

As a family-run business, we know how important it is for you to remain independent at home. What’s more, we understand the importance of finding a carer that you feel safe and comfortable with, which is why we only employ the best carers to become part of our team.

Each of our carers go through a stringent recruitment process complete with full background checks, such as Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) screenings, and a detailed training programme. But most importantly, our carers are selected not only for their skills and experience, but they all possess the very quality that sits at the heart of our service: kindness.

Thanks to our wonderful carers and dedicated office staff, we are proud to be the only home care provider to be endorsed as a Centre of Excellence by Skills for Care, and we are also fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
