Visiting care and home care in Thornton Heath

After the arrival of the railway, Thornton Heath experienced an almost overnight transformation of its local area, much like the rest of the UK. Prior to 1862, Thornton Heath had been an isolated, rural community; however, afterwards, it became a metropolitan suburb in its own right. This, along with development that ultimately linked London to Croydon, was considered a huge expansion project that, in today’s money, would’ve cost some £112 million.

While we can’t claim an expansion on that scale, Helping Hands has developed steadily over the past four decades from a single branch in the heart of the West Midlands to now encompass 155 locations spanning England and Wales. We still own all of our sites and would never consider franchising, as we know it enables us to retain consistency of the care and support we offer. In addition, because we’re fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission and the Care Inspectorate Wales, you can be confident that we’re the UK’s most trusted home care provider too.

High quality home care in Thornton Heath

We’re not like other care companies at Helping Hands; no matter what circumstances you present to us, we’re small enough to care while being big enough to cope. With intermittent visiting care arranged as often as you need it, you can carry on living in the home you love while receiving as much additional support as necessary. Our carefully sourced carers will undertake your housework, personal care, and anything else you need, whether it’s inside the home or helping you enjoy your local community.

24/7 live in care support

When you choose live-in care you don’t just get support around the clock, you get someone living in your home who quickly becomes a friend. You may be struggling with the passing of a beloved companion, which means your house feels too quiet, or you may have complex care needs that require 24-hour support. With a carer living in your home, you and your loved ones have the reassurance that you’re never alone. Having someone with you day and night doesn’t mean you lose your privacy, though, as our carers are discreet as well as helpful.

Why Helping Hands is better than a care agency in Thornton Heath

We’ve never been a care agency, but you may be wondering what the difference really is between an agency and Helping Hands. Mainly, it means we can offer consistency, unlike any agency, because we own, manage and staff all of our own branches across the UK. We also employ all of our carers directly under UK employment law, which means you don’t have to worry about their status; you pay us, and we pay them; simple! We also source all of our carers via our in-house recruitment team as we feel it’s too important a job to leave to anyone else.

Qualified carers providing a variety of care services in Thornton Heath

Our carers are very special people; we carefully select only those who demonstrate the highest dedication to delivering exceptional care while thoroughly checking their references and screening them through the DBS. This ensures that only the people who should be entering your home and caring for you are doing so, thus keeping you safe at all times. We value our carers so much and we know our customers do too, which is why we offer qualifications and opportunities for development that mean they are at the forefront of industry developments.

FAQs

Home care can be a valuable choice for individuals who need extra support but wish to remain living at home. This may include help with personal care, mobility, medication or everyday household tasks. For many people, staying in familiar surroundings provides comfort, confidence and a sense of control.

We understand how important independence can be. Home care in Croydon offers tailored support that fits around your lifestyle, enabling you to continue living life your way. With one-to-one care delivered by dedicated carers, you receive focused attention without the upheaval of moving into residential care. The Croydon team are committed to delivering compassionate care that supports both practical needs and emotional wellbeing.

The cost of home care in Croydon depends on the level of support required. Care packages are flexible and can range from occasional visits through to full-time live-in care. Pricing reflects the amount of care provided, ensuring a personalised approach that meets your needs.

A free care assessment will help determine the most suitable level of support. The team will explain all costs clearly and answer any questions you may have. Helping Hands believe in being open and honest about pricing, allowing you to plan with confidence.

Yes. Home care is designed to adapt alongside you. If your needs increase, decrease or change direction, your care plan can be updated accordingly. This might include adjusting visit times, increasing support or transitioning to a different type of care.

If care is required urgently, we’ll aim to start within 72 hours of your first call. The process begins with a free care assessment conducted in your home by a local care manager.

This visit provides an opportunity to discuss your needs, preferences and expectations. Once the assessment is complete, a start date will be agreed based on availability.

Starting home care is straightforward. Contact the customer support team to arrange your free care assessment. During the assessment, your care manager will work with you to create a personalised care plan.

Once you’re happy with the plan, carers will be carefully matched to suit your needs. Support will then begin in the comfort of your own home, helping you feel safe, supported and independent.

All Helping Hands carers are directly employed, trained and vetted. They are insured and bonded, providing reassurance for customers and families alike. The team are dedicated to maintaining high standards of care and professionalism.

If your usual carer cannot attend, a replacement will always be provided. The team will aim to keep visits as close as possible to the original time, ensuring continuity and reliability of care.
