Cost of Stroke Care

How much does Stroke Care Cost?

A stroke is a terminal and life-threatening medical condition that occurs when the blood supply to part of the brain is cut off. We understand that it can have a huge impact physically and mentally on an individual’s life. According to the Stroke Association, “the quickest recovery takes place in the days and weeks after a stroke. But recovery can continue for months and years after a stroke.”

That’s why at Helping Hands, we provide stroke aftercare to help your loved one get back on the road to recovery. We have been providing care for more than 30 years as a private care agency. This simply means we believe in transparency – there are no hidden costs or unexpected fees. We understand how confusing it may get, making sense with a lot of information overload, which is why we like to be upfront from the beginning.

Our stroke care packages are delivered on visiting or live-in care basis. Your loved one will receive person-centred care that is fully tailored to your needs, values and requirements. Whatever option you choose, our amazing careers will continue to promote your independence and provide you with the support, whenever you need it.

Visiting stroke care costs:

If you are looking after your loved one and need an extra pair of hands to help you during the week, then visiting care may be the best option for you. Our carers can visit from as little as 30 minutes a week to several trips a day – all dependent on your needs. We can help with bathing and dressing, moving around the home, verbal exercises and medication.

  • Prices start from £25.27 per hour for one-to-one home care
  • Flexible costs for visits lasting 30, 45 or 60 minutes
  • Prices depend on your location and specific care needs
  • Overnight care available as well as the support provided during weekends and bank holidays
  • Call-out fee of £4.25 per visit to cover travel costs
  • Free home visit from your local care specialist to assess your needs (for care lasting more than a month) and ongoing support

Live-in stoke care cost

If you feel you need constant support throughout the night and day, one of our dedicated carers can provide you or your loved one with the support you need. Plus, you won’t be restricted to set mealtimes and visiting hours, so your loved ones can visit you whenever you wish.

Live-in care costs start from £1,779 per week for a single person and £1,779 per week for a couple.

Paying for Stroke Care

As a private home care provider, we directly recruit our carers, which means everything from their contract to their training is covered by us. We also ensure that there are no hidden fees, unexpected costs and unnecessary paperwork – so you won’t be faced with any surprises when you receive your bill at the end of the month.

Possible Funding Options

Many of our customers pay for their care privately, however, depending on your circumstances you may be eligible for care funding from the NHS or your local authority. Our friendly customer care team is available seven days a week to advise you on your funding options. You can also visit our FAQs page on costs and funding for more information.

Planning for Stroke Care

We understand how daunting it can be planning care for yourself or a loved one, which is why we recruit compassionate and empathetic carers to provide you with the highest level of care you deserve. All of our private carers are trained to ensure they are equipped with the right skills to provide you with the care you need. For your added reassurance, all our carers go through a strict background check, so you know you will be cared for by someone you can trust. We are also fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission and Care Inspectorate Wales, which means you’ll receive a compassionate, trustworthy and well-led service, which is better value for money.
