Meet our Head of Recruitment
Dan has worked at Helping Hands for over two years and is responsible for the strategy across all Helping Hands recruitment channels, ensuring that our operational teams have the right level of candidate pipelines to create healthy business growth. Dan manages a team of experts that offer recruitment consultancy to the business in their respective areas, forming strategic partnerships and taking a commercial approach to recruitment.
Before joining us, Dan worked within a recruitment marketing environment for over five years, working with recruitment agencies that specialised in hospitality. Working for a home care company is more than just a job to Dan.
He explains: “My nan currently has early onset dementia and it’s important to me that the care she will need to eventually receive is of the same quality that Helping Hands offers. They’ve set the benchmark and will absolutely be the company of choice when the time is right.”
Meet our International Recruitment Manager
Samantha joined Helping Hands in 2018 as a recruitment coordinator before becoming the Country Manager for Emerging Markets, managing our overseas recruitment in countries such as Hungary, Romania, Portugal and France. Now Sam is our International Recruitment Manager overseeing all our overseas recruitment and the journey our carers experience when they come to the UK for the first time.
Before joining Helping Hands, Samantha worked in the prison service and is currently studying a degree in Forensic Psychology in her free time.
“I had heard great things about Helping Hands through friends and family who worked here, and I wanted to work in a company that makes a positive difference to people who need it the most. Knowing that I can support our amazing carers in what they do best makes me feel like in a small way I am helping someone to stay independent and living in their own home.”
Meet our Recruitment Manager
Abby has worked in recruitment for over six years, working for a recruitment agency and an international law firm before joining Helping Hands. She now looks after the recruitment of salaried staff and hourly visiting carers, focusing on finding the most efficient way to bring top talent into the company. She also supports managers with the interview process and holds relationships with external suppliers such as Indeed and Glassdoor.
Having been at Helping Hands for almost four years, she has seen the business grow considerably and says that the best thing about her job is: “Seeing the people you recruit make a real positive impact to the company and the day-to-day lives of the vulnerable people we support.”
