Our carers

What makes Helping Hands carers so special?

Hand-picked, highly trained, and passionate about helping you live your best life.

In the 36 years we’ve been helping people across the UK to live more independently at home, we’ve made no secret of the fact that our wonderful carers are the reason we’re the nation’s leading home care provider. It takes a special person to be a Helping Hands carer, and we’re very proud of our brilliant care teams.

The difference a great carer can make

At Helping Hands, we know that a brilliant carer can make all the difference.

Choosing home care, whether live-in care or visiting care, can be a big step and a difficult decision to take. There are many services available and, of course, you’re looking for the option that provides you with the most reliable and compassionate support.

With Helping Hands, you can be assured of receiving support that meets your needs and exceeds your expectations. Whether you need visiting care or live-in care, our carers go above and beyond for every customer, and are the main reason why we’ve been the UK’s real leader in home care for over three decades.

carers

Here’s how a great carer can help you at home:

Personal care

Our carers are all expertly trained to deliver discreet personal care, such as assisting with toileting, bathing and dressing

Chores and housework

A Helping Hands carer can help out around the home with vacuuming, cleaning, doing the laundry, and just about anything else

Medication assistance

All of our carers are trained to provide dedicated medication support – whether that’s collecting it on your behalf, or helping to administer it

Mobility support

Your carer can help you move around your home more freely, as well as accompanying you out and about to the shops or even further afield

Seeing loved ones

Our carers can support you to see your loved ones whenever you wish – whether that’s accompanying you when you visit them, or helping you to host

Enjoying your hobbies

Dedicated care allows you to spend more time focusing on your favourite hobbies and pasttimes, and less time stressing about doing the chores

Taking care of pets

Home care includes pet care – you can rely on your carer to keep your furry friend fed, watered and exercised to their heart’s content

Low-grade medical assistance

Our carers can provide low-grade medical support, such as discreetly and respectfully helping with bowel, stoma and catheter care

Condition-led care

If you’re living with a medical condition such as a type of dementia or cancer, your carer can help you manage your symptoms through bespoke care

Hear from one of our carers

We caught up with one of our carers, Denise, to find out why she loves what she does.

Hear from one of our wonderful carers, Denise, as she shares why she loves working as a carer, what her customer, Brenda, means to her, and what she enjoys about working with Helping Hands.

What our team says

What our care team says about Helping Hands

Fully regulated carers

Only 2% of carers who apply to our teams get through our strict procedures and background checks, so you know you’ll only ever receive the very best care.

When you opt for home care from Helping Hands, you’ll get a care service that is independently regulated and monitored every step of the way.

This regulation means that, unlike care agencies, all of our carers are fully regulated by the care industry’s regulatory bodies, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW).

Family values, family-led care

We’re built on family values, and these values run deep all the way through our business.

One of the reasons carers love working with us is because we place a heavy emphasis on being family focused in all that we do. From the compassion of each of our private carers through to the commitment of our office-based team, we’re always here for you.

This includes ensuring your carers have our full support, which is why our carers are employed directly and we never use agency staff.

It means you have the peace of mind that you’re getting care from someone who’s passed all our training and selection processes.

Carer FAQs

A carer can support your independence at home with just about anything you require – whether that’s taking care of the housework, providing you with sensitive personal care, assisting with mobility and medication, and so much more.

Your carer can come to your home at the times that suit you. That means you’ll be able to choose the times at which you’d like to get up, eat your meals, participate in your favourite activities and go to bed – giving you full flexbility and control over your day.

If you’re considering becoming a carer, we’d love to hear from you today. You don’t need any qualifications to become a carer with us – we’ll provide you with all the training and on-the-job support you require.
