Visiting care and home care in Exmouth

Exmouth became a fashionable destination for the wealthy in the 18th century and was renowned as somewhere they could recover their health, thanks to the views and medicinal salt waters.

Helping Hands has a strong history of our own and although it’s only 30 years long so far, we’ve achieved great things in that time, thanks to our visiting and live-in care services delivered by our amazing carers.

    Home care Exmouth

Visiting care sees our incredible carers coming to you and supporting you with every aspect of your daily life, such as personal care, medication, mobility, meal preparation, housework, laundry and so much more and with visits starting from just 30 minutes a week there’s no doubt we’ll be able to design your bespoke package of care. We’ll promote your independence at all times so that you’re always in control of your care, meaning you get to live your best life possible in the home you love.

    Exmouth live-in care

When you have live-in care from Helping Hands your dedicated carer lives in your home with you, meaning you get around the clock support and companionship when you need it. Don’t think your home won’t feel like your own anymore though, as your discreet carer knows when you’d rather be on your own or left to enjoy some time with family and friends, which is when they can carry out household tasks for you instead.

Better than a care agency in Exmouth

We’re proud of being a private home care company rather than an agency, and that will never change. Being the company we are, means we can directly employ all of our carers – we’d never ask them to become self-employed like some agencies do, as that would switch their focus from expertly caring for you to worrying about paperwork and accounting deadlines.

Domiciliary care starting from 30 minutes per week

When you choose domiciliary care, or care at home as it is also known, you will have our compassionate carers coming to support you, in either a visiting or live-in capacity. With visits starting from just 30 minutes per week and going up to a frequency and duration that suits you, we really can offer a totally flexible and personalised package of support that will be designed especially for your needs.

    Dementia care specialists at home

Living with dementia doesn’t mean you’ll need care right away; it may be some way along your dementia journey before you need professional support. Even so, it’s important to have those conversations with loved ones, however difficult it may be, as you’ll want your wishes known for a time when dementia care may be necessary. Thanks to our 30 years of supporting customers living with dementia in their own homes, we really are a dementia specialist, so you can trust us to provide the highest standards of care if you ever need us.

    Respite care for short-term support

Respite care at home can be preferable to having to stay in residential accommodation, as you get to remain in the home you love while having the highest levels of care continuity, thanks to your personalised support plan and bespoke care package. Whether your regular carer needs a break or you’re recovering from a hospital stay, you’ll benefit from our compassionate carers’ presence and support, and even in an emergency situation we can get care to you within 24 hours.

    Elderly care for everyday help

With elderly care from Helping Hands, we can help you to live the best life you can while getting to remain in the home you love. If you’re finding everyday tasks more of a struggle lately, whether due to age-related frailties or an existing condition, our compassionate carers can help you to live as independently as possible with personal care, housework, mobility, medication, meal preparation, laundry and so much more.

    Fully trained carers in Exmouth

We value our carers so highly because they go above and beyond every single day of the year to support our customers with their care needs in the comfort of their own homes. Thanks to their tireless dedication, our customers get to remain as independent as possible while living the best life they can in the home they want to remain in. This is why we invest in such detailed training for our carers when they join us and encourage them to develop their skills at every opportunity. Thanks to our full regulation by the Care Quality Commission and Care Inspectorate Wales, you can be sure of our exemplary standards of care at all times.

    FAQs

Call us on 0330 818 3754 or request a callback and someone from our team will come to you. Phone lines are open Monday to Friday 8am to 7pm and weekends 9am to 5:30pm. There isn’t a branch in Exmouth itself; care in the area is coordinated by our Topsham branch (Unit A, Castleview Barns, Woodbury Farm, Woodbury, Devon, EX5 1HQ), which makes no real difference to the support you receive.

Quite a lot. We offer hourly visiting care, live-in care, respite care, dementia care, elderly care, and condition-led support for a range of needs. Visiting care can start from as little as 30 minutes a week, while live-in care sits at the other end of the scale, with a carer living in your home providing round-the-clock companionship and support. The best starting point is a conversation with the team, or request a brochure if you’d rather read through the options first.

We can carry out the assessment at home or, where it helps, before a hospital discharge, and your care package is built around your individual needs rather than off the shelf. If discharge is part of the picture, give us a call and we’ll work out the right approach together.

For live-in care, yes: you’ll have one dedicated carer living with you, which naturally builds consistency and connection over time. For visiting care, the team works carefully to find the right carer for you. More broadly, we take matching seriously, because it’s about finding someone who fits, not just their qualifications. Give us a call and we’ll talk through what matters most to you.

Yes, in urgent situations. Our respite care can get support to you within 24 hours when it’s needed. Life doesn’t always give you much warning, and we understand that.

As a fully managed provider, we arrange cover, which is one of the practical differences between us and an introductory agency, where sorting illness cover would fall to you. If your carer can’t make it, we aim to have a replacement in place so your support isn’t disrupted. For anything specific, our Topsham team is reachable by phone or callback and can give you a straight answer quickly.

Two slightly different things there. Our phone lines are open at weekends (Saturday and Sunday 9am to 5:30pm), and live-in care provides round-the-clock support by its nature, since a carer living in your home doesn’t clock off at 5pm. For visiting care schedules or bank holidays, it’s worth raising directly with our Topsham team.

We’re regulated by the Care Quality Commission and Care Inspectorate Wales, and our Topsham branch carries full CQC regulation covering Exmouth services. We also directly employ our carers rather than asking them to register as self-employed, which is what introduction agencies typically do. That matters in practice, because accountability sits with us, including arranging cover if your carer is ever ill or unsuitable.

For how families can keep track of visits and notes, it’s best to ask the team directly when you call, and we’ll explain exactly what’s available. Keeping relatives informed is something we care about, so we’re happy to talk it through.

People are often surprised by the breadth. Day to day, a visit can include personal care, medication support, mobility, meal preparation, housework and laundry, plus help getting out and about. Rather than working from a fixed menu, we build a bespoke package around you and your independence, so the team can talk you through what’s realistic for your situation.
