Visiting care and home care in Farnborough

Farnborough is a historic town which was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. It has a strong association with aviation, being the home of the Royal Aircraft Establishment, Farnborough Air show and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch. No stranger to history either, is Helping Hands, and with over 30 years of experience already under our belt, it’s little surprise we have a presence in Farnborough.

We offer home care on either a visiting care or a live-in care basis; the difference being that your carer will either visit you regularly at prearranged times and carry out all your care requirements, or they can live in your home with you around the clock. This is where live-in care can have a distinct advantage, as not only do you get the very highest standards of care as you do with our visiting service, but you get a companion in your house who can be as obvious or as discreet as you wish. This means that you and your loved ones get the reassurance of you never being home alone, yet you can have as much peace and solitude as you prefer, while your carer is busy carrying out household tasks.

    Home care Farnborough

We understand how important it is that you remain in control of your care, which is why the team will work with you to provide a personalised care plan that puts your needs at the centre. Whether your loved one is living with dementia and you are concerned for their wellbeing at home, or you simply need some extra support in getting out and about in your local community, our team providing home care in Farnborough is here to give you the support you need, when you need it.

With each of our carers completing an award-winning training programme, our Farnborough team are fully equipped to provide high-quality support for Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, cerebral palsy, mental health conditions and many more.

    Live-in care in Farnborough

Live-in care is exactly as it suggests; one of our compassionate carers will live in your home with you and be available to care for your needs around the clock. Just because they’re there, though, doesn’t mean you’ll feel like your home has been taken over; our carers are as discreet as you need them to be and certainly won’t get under your feet. This means you still get time to yourself when you want it and can be as sociable as you feel like being on any given day.

Better than a care agency in Farnborough

Helping Hands is not a home care agency; we directly employ all of our carers and staff, meaning that they get to concentrate on the most important job of caring for you, rather than worrying about employment paperwork. We ensure your carers' references and DBS are clear, which means they are only allowed to come into your home with all the correct clearances in place. This level of fully managed support from us to our carers means they are highly motivated and feel especially valued in their role. Not being an agency means you also don’t have to pay us referral fees and other costs that agencies may demand, so you get better value care as a result.

A woman in a light purple uniform and blue gloves washes her hands at a kitchen sink. A vase of flowers and a plate with food are on the worktop beside her. She is smiling and appears to be in a modern kitchen.
    Dementia care in Farnborough

Being diagnosed with dementia can be a time of great anxiety for the person and their loved ones, and while care may not be needed immediately, it’s understandable that thoughts will often turn to the future. Being cared for at home when you’re living with dementia is often the best situation, because being in familiar surroundings with precious pets and objects around you can help to reduce confusion and anxiety levels. Helping Hands are highly experienced in dementia care so why not call our friendly team in Farnborough to learn more?

    Respite care bespoke to you

Respite care can be incredibly helpful when your regular carer is suddenly unavailable, perhaps through illness or accident. It can also be an ideal short-term solution when you’re faced with a hospital discharge you weren’t expecting quite so quickly, for yourself or a loved one. Respite care can be billed by the day in the case of very short-term care, meaning you get great value too, and when you need care in an emergency, we can usually be in your home in 24 hours or less.

A carer wearing blue gloves applies shaving foam to an elderly man’s face as he sits by a bathroom basin, preparing for a shave. A round mirror hangs on the wall in the background.
Elderly care for help at home

We all need some extra support as we get older, and with elderly care from the Farnborough team, your helpful carer will tackle all those tasks that you are finding a little tricky. This might be vacuuming, preparing meals or personal care, but regardless of how we can help, you’ll be really glad you called us.

A woman in a light purple uniform and blue gloves slices bread on a wooden chopping board in a modern kitchen. A white plate and a glass of water are on the worktop.
    Fully-trained carers in Farnborough

We believe our carers are the best in the industry, because we only select people who share our ethos for delivering the highest quality, person-centred care. We train our carers thoroughly so that you and your loved ones can be confident in their ability to be able to support you, regardless of the condition you’re living with. We even offer complex care training, delivered by our clinical nursing team, meaning that we will be with you every step of the way, even through your last days at home. We are a founding member of the UK Home Care Association, and we are fully accredited by the Care Quality Commission and Care Inspectorate Wales.

    FAQs

With visiting care, you’ll have a dedicated group of carers rather than one fixed person for every visit, and we aim to keep your visits as stable as possible. For how your visits would be coordinated through our Godalming branch, the team there can walk you through exactly how it works. Give us a call and they’ll give you a straight answer.

If your regular carer is unexpectedly ill, we arrange cover so you’re not left without support. For exactly how that’s handled, it’s worth asking the branch team so you know what to expect.

Yes. In an emergency, we aim to have a carer with you in 24 hours or less. Because life doesn’t always give you warning, we move quickly when it matters.

We work with you to put a personalised care plan in place. It’s centred on your needs from the start, and usually begins with a home visit so we can understand your situation properly. Our Godalming branch can talk you through every step, and we’ll make sure it’s all set out clearly for you.

A key safe is the most common approach, with the code held securely and shared only with those who need it. Raise it with the branch team when you first get in touch and we’ll sort the access plan with you.

Our carers aren’t able to carry out medical procedures, even in an emergency, and the right call is always 999. They can perform CPR, but only under the direct guidance of the emergency services and where they feel confident. Whether a carer stays at the property or travels to hospital is best talked through with the branch team before care starts, so you know exactly what to expect.

Our phone lines are open Saturday and Sunday (9am to 5:30pm), and Monday to Friday 8am to 7pm. For care over a bank holiday, it’s best to check directly with the branch so we can confirm exactly what’s available for your dates.

Under hourly visiting care, our nursing care can support with managing conditions or medication can be included, alongside personal care, light housekeeping and help getting out and about. Exactly which medication tasks are covered depends on your needs, so it’s worth asking the team about your specific situation.

Our Godalming branch, which delivers care for Farnborough, is fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), and before any carer comes into your home, their references and DBS checks are completed and clear. If you ever have concerns or want to share feedback, there’s a dedicated feedback and support route, and you can call the team or request a callback any time during opening hours.

Your care plan is built around you, and we welcome family involvement from the start. Exactly how often family members hear from the team and what day-to-day updates look like is best talked through directly, since it can be shaped around what suits your family. Give us a call or request a callback and we’ll explain how communication usually works.
