Huntingdon’s first appearance in the history books comes in 921, where it receives a mention in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle under the name Huntandun – meaning “The huntsman’s hill”. Over the years, the town of Huntingdon has served many interesting purposes, including being a staging post for Danish raids, a castle town, a coaching centre, and of course the birthplace of Oliver Cromwell.
Nowadays, Huntingdon is an idyllic market town, filled with historical architecture and surrounded by natural beauty. At Helping Hands, our goal is to provide holistic, transformative care that allows you to experience the very best possible quality of life. Our carers will support you to get out and about as much as you want, so that you’re able to continue enjoying all the benefits of living in beautiful Huntingdon.

We’re not a care agency, which means that when you partner with us for home care you’ll get certain benefits that most agencies don’t offer. For example, we employ our carers directly, which means you won’t have to worry about making monthly payments to your carers. With over 30 years’ experience in caring for customers with types of dementia, we have unparalleled expertise in providing exceptional dementia care that gives people the opportunity to live with as much independence and dignity as possible. Our care focuses on supporting those live in dementia to remain in the comfortable, familiar environment of their own home to manage their symptoms as they learn to live with their condition. Of course, with dementia being a progressive condition it’s important that your care is flexible around your changing needs, so we’ll constantly monitor your care requirements and will recommend amendments as necessary.
More commonly known as ‘care at home’, domiciliary care is becoming an increasingly popular alternative to moving to a residential nursing home for people who require additional day-to-day support. Domiciliary care gives you the opportunity to stay in the home that you love and continue enjoying all the benefits that come with it – such as spending more time with friends and family, remaining in your community, having more control over your care plan, and so much more.
Respite care from Helping Hands gives your normal carer the opportunity to take an all-important break to build up their energy and strength. We all need a change of scene every now and then, including carers. With our respite care services, one of our wonderful carers will step in and assume all the duties that your regular carer usually undertakes, allowing them to rest up and giving you the chance to have a new friendly face around the home. Our Huntingdon care team are able to provide respite care at short notice, and can also help out if you find yourself unexpectedly needing additional support at home – whether because of an injury, a change in circumstances, or anything else.
