Home care in Huntingdon
Visiting care and home care in Huntingdon
Huntingdon’s first appearance in the history books comes in 921, where it receives a mention in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle under the name Huntandun – meaning “The huntsman’s hill”. Over the years, the town of Huntingdon has served many interesting purposes, including being a staging post for Danish raids, a castle town, a coaching centre, and of course the birthplace of Oliver Cromwell.
Nowadays, Huntingdon is an idyllic market town, filled with historical architecture and surrounded by natural beauty. At Helping Hands, our goal is to provide holistic, transformative care that allows you to experience the very best possible quality of life. Our carers will support you to get out and about as much as you want, so that you’re able to continue enjoying all the benefits of living in beautiful Huntingdon.

Live-in care gives you the opportunity to have one of our compassionate, expertly-trained carers come to live with you in your home and provide you with round-the-clock support. Our live-in carers receive comprehensive training on our award-winning four-day course, and have all been recruited for their empathetic personalities to ensure they’re great companions. Better than an agency in Huntingdon
-
We’re not a care agency, which means that when you partner with us for home care you’ll get certain benefits that most agencies don’t offer. For example, we employ our carers directly, which means you won’t have to worry about making monthly payments to your carers. We’re also completely upfront about all the costs involved in our care, so there’ll be no hidden costs or unexpected fees and you won’t be burdened with mountains of bothersome paperwork.
-
Dementia care
-
With over 30 years’ experience in caring for customers with types of dementia, we have unparalleled expertise in providing exceptional dementia care that gives people the opportunity to live with as much independence and dignity as possible. Our care focuses on supporting those live in dementia to remain in the comfortable, familiar environment of their own home to manage their symptoms as they learn to live with their condition. Our superb team of carers in Huntingdon are trained to provide dedicated dementia care that offers personable, holistic support. Of course, with dementia being a progressive condition it’s important that your care is flexible around your changing needs, so we’ll constantly monitor your care requirements and will recommend amendments as necessary.
-
Domiciliary care
-
More commonly known as ‘care at home’, domiciliary care is becoming an increasingly popular alternative to moving to a residential nursing home for people who require additional day-to-day support. Domiciliary care gives you the opportunity to stay in the home that you love and continue enjoying all the benefits that come with it – such as spending more time with friends and family, remaining in your community, having more control over your care plan, and so much more.
-
Respite care
-
Respite care from Helping Hands gives your normal carer the opportunity to take an all-important break to build up their energy and strength. We all need a change of scene every now and then, including carers. With our respite care services, one of our wonderful carers will step in and assume all the duties that your regular carer usually undertakes, allowing them to rest up and giving you the chance to have a new friendly face around the home. Our Huntingdon care team are able to provide respite care at short notice, and can also help out if you find yourself unexpectedly needing additional support at home – whether because of an injury, a change in circumstances, or anything else.

Elderly care

As we get older, it’s only natural that we’ll find certain things start to take longer or become more physically exhausting. When it comes to taking care of yourself and your home, a little help can go a long way. At Helping Hands, our elderly care staff are able to assist with all the things you might be struggling with from day – whether that’s bathing, continence, cleaning, medication, shopping, or just about anything else. They can also help you get out and about, or take your pets for a walk. We’ll make sure you’re supported to continue doing all the things you enjoy without the stress of feeling isolated.

Fully trained carers in Huntingdon
-
We’re extremely proud of our brilliant carers in Huntingdon – they truly are the heart and soul of our organisation, and they constantly go above and beyond to ensure every customer receives the exceptional home care they’ve come to expect from Helping Hands. All of our carers have been selectively recruited for their compassionate, dedicated approach to their roles, and undergo numerous background checks before joining us to ensure they’re the type of person that you’d be happy to have in your home.
When they start with us, every new carer participates in our award-winning training programme. We’ve been delivering our training in-house for over 30 years, and it covers a range of modules including moving and handling, dementia care, medication support, personal care and so much more. And, for your full peace of mind, all of our care services are completely regulated by the Care Quality Commission and Care Inspectorate Wales, so you know we’re committed to excellence across the board.
