What is respite care?

Respite care is a package of short-term, temporary care that is usually delivered by a different provider to your regular carer. If you don’t usually have a carer, then your care may be to get you through a period of recovery from an illness or accident, which will get you back on your feet and enable you to live independently again. Respite care can be delivered in a care home setting but increasingly people are wanting to stay at home to receive it, because it brings many benefits for your emotional and physical wellbeing to be in familiar surroundings and with people you love.

When to choose respite care

Our respite care packages are designed around you and your needs, meaning that you’ll always remain at the centre of your care journey and our focus will be on increasing your independence. Your personalised support plan will accompany your care and will detail all your preferences and routines, meaning how you like things done will always be respected. Providing your regular carer with a break is essential, as without time away they won’t be able to remain in physical and emotional good health and care for you to the best of their ability. If your carer is taken ill and you need emergency care we're also able to help, by providing a carer in your home within a matter of hours usually.

Respite care services tailored to you

Respite care can help you live your life to the fullest, providing you with the support you need to get back on your feet or until your regular carer returns. Respite care at home will benefit you immensely as you’ll stay in favoured surroundings that will encourage your wellbeing while our carers promote your independence at all times. Our respite care can be delivered on a visiting care basis from just 30 minutes per week, over several calls a day or on a full-time live-in care basis. Every aspect of your daily routine can be undertaken by your carers, including medication administration, mobility support, housework & laundry, meal preparation, personal care and so much more. They can also help you to access your community and attend appointments as necessary.

Qualified respite carers in Penzance

Our carers really are the heart of our business, as without them we wouldn’t have a business! We value our carers highly because of the exceptional care that they provide to our customers across England and Wales on a daily basis, supporting people to live their very best lives in the homes they love. We only employ the kindest and most compassionate people to become Helping Hands carers and we provide them with all of the practical skills they’ll need to look after our customers. Additionally, we’ll always offer development opportunities where possible so that carers can learn new skills and apply this to their customers’ care. Also, because we’re fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission and Care Inspectorate Wales, you and your loved ones can have total confidence in our commitment to excellent care.
