St Albans respite support from Helping Hands

The great thing about respite care from Helping Hands is that we’re there when you need us in the short-term, but the rest of the time you don’t need to think about care. It may be that you’re being discharged from hospital, you’re recovering from an illness or accident or your family need to take a break, but whatever the reason you need us for respite care, you get to remain in the home you love and don’t need to relocate to residential care, even temporarily. Our dedicated and professional St Albans care team will be able to help you with every aspect of your care, whether you have plenty of time to arrange things or need us within 24 hours. Everything is possible with Helping Hands, so why not talk to us about respite care in your own home and stay where you want to be.

What is short-term respite care?

Respite care is temporary short-term care, usually for a week or two, that sees your regular care provider being replaced while they take a break. This could be another care company or your loved ones, but regardless of who it is, they still need to take regular breaks to ensure they return to you refreshed and relaxed. We can deliver your respite care on a visiting or live-in basis, meaning you either have regular scheduled visits throughout the day or week or one of our amazing carers resides in your home with you for the duration of your care.

When should you choose respite care?

Remaining at home to be cared for, surrounded by familiar pets, possessions and the people you love, is always going to be more beneficial to your physical and emotional wellbeing than moving into residential care. This is because you’re not only in the place you love, seeing the views you adore through the windows or having your grandchildren playing in the garden, you’re also receiving dedicated one-to-one care which residential homes can’t do with the best will in the world. Your regular caregiver will get the break they need while knowing you’re in excellent hands, meaning they’ll fully relax and the time apart will do you both good.

Respite care services tailored to you

When you choose respite care from the St Albans team, you’re going to get the benefit of dedicated and compassionate carers coming to your home and ensuring you live your best life possible. Our carers can undertake any aspect of your care and can have special training from our clinical nurse team if you are living with complex care needs. Otherwise, they’ll support your medication, mobility, meal preparation, personal care, housework, laundry and can help you to access the community if you wish.
