Visiting care and home care in Tower Hamlets

Tower Hamlets shares its name with a large borough in London’s East End, but Tower Hamlets in Dover is an altogether different place, with a much smaller population and quiet, leafy lanes leading to hidden historical treasures.

At Helping Hands, we identify with both places as we began as a small company in 1989 with just one branch in Alcester, Warwickshire, and we’ve now grown to have over 155 branches right across England and Wales. With our visiting care service starting from just 30 minutes a week and a full-time live-in care option, we will be able to support anyone who needs care and would like to remain in their own home to receive it. All our care services are regulated by the Care Quality Commission.

    Live-in care in Tower Hamlets

Since 1989, we’ve been providing care and companionship to our customers in their own homes. With a live-in carer you get support around the clock and a package of care tailored to you, accompanied by your personalised support plan which ensures that your routines and preferences are always respected. Helping Hands really are the home care specialists as we’ll support you with personal care, housework, meal preparation, mobility, laundry and so much more, even if you have complex care needs, meaning you are always at the centre of your own care journey.

Better Than a Tower Hamlets Care Agency

We are so much better than a home care agency because we are a private company who for over 30 years has worked tirelessly to ensure that our customers and employees have the very best service we can offer. Our carers feel valued because we employ them directly, rather than expecting them to manage their own employment, or worse, expecting our customers to. Therefore, they feel motivated to offer the very best service to our customers, as we all do at Helping Hands.

Fully trained carers in Tower Hamlets

Our compassionate and empathetic carers are amongst the best in the industry because they go above and beyond to look after our customers and support them at home. We train our carers thoroughly when they join us but we can’t train them to care, only to have the skills to be able to carry out care, so we always ensure we only select people who share our ethos for supporting people to remain safe and comfortable in their own homes. We’re fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission and Care Inspectorate Wales, so you can be confident in our industry leading standards of care.

    FAQs

Home care in Tower Hamlets is professional support provided in your own home, helping you or a loved one stay safe, comfortable and independent without needing to move into residential care. It can be arranged as regular visiting care, occasional support, respite care, or full-time live-in care, depending on your needs.

With Helping Hands, care is built around your routine, so support can include anything from help getting up in the morning to companionship, meal preparation, medication prompts, mobility support and personal care.

Home care can include a wide range of practical, personal and emotional support. This may include help with washing, dressing, toileting, medication prompts, preparing meals, light housework, shopping, attending appointments, mobility support and companionship.

Care can be flexible, from short visits during the week to several visits a day or live-in care. The right level of support will depend on your needs, routines and preferences.

A carer can help with everyday tasks that have become difficult to manage alone. This might include getting in and out of bed, washing and dressing, preparing meals, moving safely around the home, taking medication, keeping the house tidy, going shopping, attending appointments or simply having someone there for companionship.

The aim is to provide the right amount of support while helping you maintain independence, dignity and confidence at home.

The cost of home care in Tower Hamlets depends on the type and amount of support you need. Helping Hands’ visiting care prices currently start from £32.40 per hour, with visits available from 30 minutes, and live-in care currently starts from £1,675 per week for one person. A call-out or travel charge may also apply.

Because everyone’s needs are different, the best way to get an accurate price is to arrange a care assessment. This helps create a tailored care plan and a clear breakdown of costs before care begins.

Home care can be cheaper than a care home, especially if you only need support for part of the day or a few times a week. Age UK says privately arranged home care can cost around £25 per hour, while residential care averages around £949 per week and nursing home care around £1,267 per week, although costs vary by area and needs.

For people who need round-the-clock support, live-in care may be closer in cost to residential care, but it allows you to remain in your own home, keep familiar routines and receive one-to-one support.

Yes. Helping Hands states that its service is regulated by the Care Quality Commission, or CQC, in England and the Care Inspectorate Wales, or CIW, in Wales. These regulators monitor care providers to make sure they meet required standards for safety, quality and care delivery.

Individual branch ratings can vary, so it is always worth checking the relevant local branch profile when arranging care in Tower Hamlets.

Home care in Tower Hamlets can often be arranged quickly, depending on your needs, location and carer availability. In many cases, care can begin within a few days, and urgent support may be possible sooner following an assessment.

The first step is usually a conversation about your situation, followed by a care assessment and a personalised care plan. This helps make sure the right support is in place from the start.
