Home care in Wallsend
Visiting care and home care in Wallsend
Wallsend’s name comes from its location at the eastern end of the historic Hadrian’s Wall, but it’s probably best known as a centre of shipbuilding for many years. The Carpathia, which rescued survivors from the Titanic disaster in 1912 was built here, as well as the Mauretania, the holder of the Blue Riband.
At Helping Hands, we respect heritage and accolades, as we’ve won awards for our care and training during our 30-year history. Our visiting and live-in care services are exceptional and are delivered by compassionate and expert carers, so you can have full confidence in us to care for you at home.

Branch Care Manager
At Helping Hands Newcastle I am responsible for overseeing all day to day activities including; managaing the office team and care staff, ensuring our lovely customers receive the highest standard of care and looking after the business side of things! It is difficult to explain 'what inspired me to join care' as it is has been a part of who am since I could stand on my own two feet! I was a young carer growing up, supporting my father with complex physical care needs. I volunteered as a young person for multiple caring organisations like Age UK & Teesside Hospice whilst I completed my education, before starting my professional career in domiciliary care. I believe in what we do at Helping Hands, as I see first hand every day the difference you can make in someone's life by supporting them to stay safely in their own home. After all, there is no place like it! In my spare time you will often catch me in a local coffee shop for breakfast, spending time in the parks or at the beach or relaxing at home with my cat - Mr Steven.

Our flexible visiting care service can be arranged from just 30 minutes per week, so whether you would like some companionship over a cup of tea, someone to walk the dog with you, or you have high-level complex care needs, we can help. Our compassionate carers can help with personal care, medication, mobility, meal preparation, housework and so much more, so whatever you need to live your best life possible at home, we can help.
-
Wallsend live-in care
-
Live-in care from Helping Hands means you’ll have around the clock support from one of our specialist carers who will work tirelessly to promote your independence in the home you love. Thanks to your personalised support plan, your preferences and routines are always respected, and your bespoke package of care will ensure that you live the life you want to while remaining in your own home.
-
Better than a care agency in Wallsend
-
The reason we’re better than a home care agency is because of what an agency generally does compared with us, a private home care company. Agencies generally charge you to be ‘matched’ with a carer, whereas we consider sourcing and finding your perfect carer is all part of our bespoke service. Agencies also often make their carers self-employed, leading to them spending time worrying about admin deadlines rather than focusing on your care.
-
Fully managed domiciliary care
-
With domiciliary care at home, your carers will have in-depth knowledge of your needs, thanks to your personalised support plan that comes with your bespoke package of care. Thanks to our fully regulated and managed service, the priorities of your care are always the most important thing to us and our valued carers always feel highly motivated, whether delivering our live-in or visiting care.
-
Dementia care specialists
-
Thanks to our 30 years of dementia care experience, we can guarantee specialist assistance from carers who will understand how dementia affects you and your family. We have many dementia specialists and champions at Helping Hands and it’s good to know that should you need it, guidance and support is always available. Having care at home will keep you close to loved ones and precious memories which will ensure you always live your best life possible.
-
Temporary respite care relief
-
You may need respite care because your regular carer is unavailable, your family are going away or because you’re recovering from a hospital stay, but whatever the reason, having temporary support in your own home can be preferable to having to go into residential care. This is because you get to stay in the home you love and have your regular routines followed and respected, and even in an emergency we can usually get care to you within 24 hours.
-
Elderly care for extra support
-
As we get older, we can sometimes feel that we’re getting a little frailer, which we often notice because tasks take longer than they used to. If you’re struggling at home with vacuuming, preparing meals, taking a shower safely, housework or any other aspect of your daily routine, why not talk to us about elderly care? Our amazing carers will give you extra support so that you still get to live the life you want in the home you love.
-
Fully trained carers in Wallsend
-
We believe our carers are the best in the industry and we can be so confident about that because we only select people who share our ethos for delivering the highest quality, person-centred care. We can train our career to look after our customers, but we can’t train them to be compassionate and empathetic – they have to have that naturally to become Helping Hands carers. Everyone who joins us is screened through the Disclosure and Barring Service for your safety and we’re also fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission and Care Inspectorate Wales.
