Respite Care in Yorkshire

Yorkshire respite support from Helping Hands

Respite care is temporary, short-term support that sees you needing a little or a lot of extra help while your regular carer isn’t available. This could be because they wish to take a well-earned break, are ill themselves, or because you wish to go on holiday, and they can’t come with you. Our friendly local care teams across the area are dedicated to providing exceptional respite home care in Yorkshire, meaning that whether you’re living with age-related frailties or a highly complex condition, we’ll provide a seamless continuity of care that’s fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission and Care Inspectorate Wales.

When to choose respite care

You may be living with a condition you’ve had since birth, the result of an accident or illness, or perhaps you are struggling with age-related frailties. Regardless of the reason you’d appreciate a little extra support, we’ll help you with every aspect of your routine, undertaking tasks inside and outside of the house such as personal care, housework, mobility, medication, preparing meals, and helping you to access the community. Our respite care service is available on a visiting or live-in basis, meaning we can tailor your care to your exact requirements.

Respite care services tailored to you

Our bespoke packages of care are designed with each customer in mind – we have never believed in a ‘one size fits all’ approach and never will. We’ll ensure that your carer understands your condition and will work hard to match you with someone who shares your interests and hobbies. You’ll have a personalised support plan that will detail exactly how you like your everyday routine to progress, meaning you remain at the centre of your care journey at all times. We design your package of care and support with flexibility built in, so if your needs change or it has to be adapted quickly it won’t be a problem. Respite care can be for a few days or weeks, while you recover from an accident or your carer takes some time away. Regardless of the circumstances though, because we’ve been caring for people in their own homes and keeping them as comfortable and independent as possible since 1989, we truly are the UK’s home care experts, with 150 branches across England and Wales.

Qualified respite carers in Yorkshire

Our carers are put through a rigorous programme of assessment and instruction when they join us, meaning they’re prepared for any eventuality while caring for their customers. Before we take them on though we also ensure their values match ours and that they have natural qualities of compassion and kindness; this is because we can equip someone with the practical skills they need to be a carer but we can’t teach them to care – they either do or don’t instinctively. We’ve had the same passion for delivering exceptional quality home care since we were established in 1989, and still hold those values true today. We screen check every carer thoroughly so that we know they’re suitable to come into your home, by following up references and screening them through the DBS. This is just one of the ways we safeguard your wellbeing in the home you love, giving you and your loved ones reassurance about the people who are taking care of you.
