Meet the team

Maria Kornat

Meet Maria Kornat, our Branch Manager, Brentwood and Basildon

"I'm Maria, a conscientious and committed branch manager thoroughly enjoying her work at Helping Hands in Brentwood. The team that I work with is second to none! We have fantastic, dedicated, kind carers who go the extra mile to ensure that the care we provide to our Brentwood customers is absolutely first class. Our customers regularly contact the office by phone, letter and email to tell us how marvellous our carers are and how efficiently the office is run, which makes me so proud. It is important to me that we work together as a team and I promote great communication as well as a collaborative approach to our care. It gives me a great deal of joy to hear that, because of our care, our customers are happy and safe in their own homes, especially when family members contact us and tell us how much their loved ones have benefitted from care."

Live-in care to support you in Brentwood

Whether you live as a couple, on your own or with your beloved pet, we understand that arranging support for you or your loved one can be unsettling. With Helping Hands, we provide bespoke live-in care packages so that you receive round-the-clock support in the comfort of your own home.

You may need support in getting out and about while your partner goes off to work, or perhaps you are living with a complex condition that requires constant one-to-one support. Nonetheless, our carers will work around you to ensure that you can continue to live your life contentedly and independently, while still receiving the support that you need.

We understand the importance of being secure and independent in your home, so as well as providing you with an expert carer that is there for you whenever you need it, we’ll work with you to find the right carer suited to your personality, hobbies and interests. So, if you want to enjoy the history of the 12th century chapel in the heart of Brentwood or enjoy a walk around the country park, our carer will be right there with you. With Helping Hands, you’ll receive so much more than a carer; you’ll gain a friend.

With live-in care, you’ll remain in control of your usual routine. With mealtimes whenever you want them to be, no restrictions on visitors and no strict times on going to bed or getting up in the morning, you’re able to continue to live your life on your terms, giving you and your family the reassurance that you’re in safe hands.

Domiciliary support in Brentwood

We understand the importance of being in control of your own care, which is why our Brentwood team will work with you to build a personalised care plan to support you in the best way for you. Regardless of your condition, our carers will listen to what it is that you need and deliver exactly that.

Traditionally known as visiting care, domiciliary care enables you to continue with your usual routines while still receiving support in the areas you need. With regular home visits from 30 minutes to several hours a day, our Brentwood team are here to support you with any of your day-to-day tasks including personal care, housekeeping and clinical care such as PEG feeding and stoma care.

Specialised dementia care to support you in Brentwood

As one of the UK’s leading dementia care specialists, we ensure that every carer is trained on dealing with the many different types of dementia and how they affect each individual. With 30 years’ experience under our belt, we understand the anxieties and uncertainties that can arise after a dementia diagnosis. From memory loss, confusion and challenging behaviour to helping your family understand the symptoms of their loved ones’ condition, our Brentwood team are trained to give you the support and guidance that you need.

We understand the importance of familiarity and communication when you or your loved one are living with dementia, so as well as enabling you to live safely in the comfort of your own home, our specialised team will also provide support and guidance on how you can continue to enjoy quality time together.

Elderly care to support your independence

Ageing is inevitable, and as we grow older we may find more difficulty in completing our everyday tasks such as washing, laundry or popping out to the shops, or perhaps you’re living with a progressive condition that requires intensive support to help you get washed and ready for the day.

Regardless of your requirements, each of our tailored elder care packages are designed with your independence at the forefront, so you can continue to live your life comfortably and securely in your own home.

Respite care for your short-term needs

We understand that care needs can arise at any time. Whether it’s an unexpected illness or injury or you are due to be discharged from hospital and you’re feeling anxious without the constant support that you’ve been used to. With as little as 24-hours’ notice, we can swiftly put a bespoke care package in place to give you the support you need, for as long as you need it.

The team at our Brentwood branch will not only provide you with the high-quality care that you’re expecting, but they will also ensure a seamless transition between carers so that you receive minimal disruption to your daily routine.

Whether you’re looking for support for a weekend or a fortnight, our Brentwood team can provide a personalised respite care package for any of the following instances:

  • Hospital discharge – If you need short-term care after time in hospital to rebuild your independence
  • Emergencies – When your regular carer needs to tend to an emergency
  • Short breaks – Giving your carer some time to rest and recuperate without any detriment to your ongoing care
  • One-off occasions – When you want to join your family to enjoy a special event, such as a wedding or birthday celebration

Fully-trained live-in carers in Brentwood

Since 1989 we have remained a family-run business, so we understand more than anyone how important it is that you receive the care that you need. Each of our carers are kind and compassionate by nature and each complete award-winning training covering areas such as manual handling, health & safety, safeguarding, equality & diversity, medication support and more.

In addition to in-house training, all of our carers are employed directly by Helping Hands, so you don’t need to worry about any paperwork or background checks. We ensure that each of our carers receive Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) screenings so you can rest assured that you’re in safe hands.

Not only are we the only home care provider endorsed as a Centre of Excellence by Skills for Care, but we are also fully licensed by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
