Home care in Gateshead
Visiting care and home care in Gateshead
Gateshead is possibly most famous for its iconic sculpture the Angel of the North, which watches over passing motorists and the city alike. The population boomed when Britain was at its industrial peak, increasing by over 100,000 during the years 1801-1901. Our carers deliver our expert service on a daily basis, promoting our customers’ dignity and independence and keeping them safe and comfortable within the home they love, and because we’re fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission, you can have full confidence in our excellent standards of care.
We understand rapid growth at Helping Hands, as for the past 30 years we have expanded from one local branch to well over 100 and with our exceptional visiting and home care services we really are the ones to trust with your care at home.

Meet the Gateshead care team
Branch Care Manager
My role at Helping Hands as a Branch Care Manager is to be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operations of my area. This varies from recruiting, managing staff, and ensuring that the service meets national care standards. It is my responsibility to provide an inspiring leadership which is well led, safe, effective and promotes a positive workplace culture. Building relationships while showing intelligent kindness will be a fundamental responsibility to ensure the service, we provide is quality. I was inspired to join care after a change in my personal circumstances. I had always wanted to try care and I felt this was a perfect opportunity. Passion for care became paramount I enjoyed the positive effect supporting others within my community had. I enjoyed helping others to live safely and independently at home. My team share my vision to exceed and deliver the best care as they are committed, patient and equally passionate. Delivering care directly to where our customers live so they are supported both physically and emotionally is of great importance to our communities which I am proud to be a part of. Connecting with my family is very important to me. I enjoy sharing family mealtimes, walking our dog and my dining table is often the hub of my home. From a wellbeing perspective I love mini breaks as well as sunny pool holidays, though sightseeing will always be something I fit in. Covid has made me appreciate my home life and value my friendships.

-
Better than a care agency in Gateshead
-
We’re better than a home care agency because we don’t do things that agencies traditionally do, such as charge you hidden fees for matching you with your carer or making you pay to be ‘introduced’ to your most suitable carer. We also don’t expect our carers to be self-employed, meaning that they are all fully employed by us and therefore get to concentrate on the most important thing of all, your care.
-
Domiciliary care in Gateshead
-
Domiciliary care is literally care at home, and whether you choose to have our visiting service, live-in or a blend of both, we will ensure you are looked after perfectly within the home you love. If you have complex care needs we can also offer the option of supervision from our clinical nurses which means you can avoid going into a care home if you’d prefer to stay in your own home.
-

Short term respite care
-
If you need temporary support due to your regular carer taking a break, your family going on holiday or while you recover from an accident or illness, then maybe respite care could be the answer. You may not usually have care or perhaps you want to see if it suits you, whatever the reason you need us we can help with every aspect of your daily life and routine. Even in an emergency, we can usually get care to you within 24 hours.
-
Elderly care for extra support
-
Getting older can sometimes cause us to slow down and find everyday tasks more difficult than they used to be. Because of this, elderly care can be useful as we age, especially if you’re living with frailties or the result of arthritis or joint pain. Don’t struggle to get tasks done when you could be having one of our helpful carers coming to support you with housework such as vacuuming and laundry, or any other aspect of your daily routine, such as personal care or meal preparation.
-
Private care Gateshead
-
When you choose to partner with a private care provider, rather than a care agency, you’ll get a bespoke package of care that is fully tailored to your individual preferences and situation. We know that no two people have the same care needs, so we’ll make sure you’re at the centre of every decision that’s taken and will do our utmost to ensure your wishes are always respected. Whether it’s smaller details such as bedtimes and meal preferences, or more significant aspects of your care like how often we visit you and what type of support you wish to receive.
