Meet Joanne, our Area Manager

Joanne, our Area Manager

With over 20 years’ care experience under her belt, Joanne has been a carer, a registered manager, and is now our area manager for the West region. Joanne has plenty of experiences to share with our Lichfield carers and knows the local areas really well.

“I am very passionate about customers receiving the best quality care possible,” Joanne says. “I am incredibly committed to ensuring that we deliver the finest quality home care, with compassionate, qualified, experienced carers.

“I was attracted to Helping Hands due to the company ethos and values which mirror my own,” Joanne adds. “The business being family-owned and run gives a real sense of belonging to a company that really does care.”

Home visits across Lichfield

Our visiting care puts your wellbeing first at all times. Care visits around Lichfield can be as little as 30 minutes a week, all the way up a number of hours each day, according to your needs and schedule.

You might be considering care following an operation or recent illness, or have a loved one who lives with dementia or Parkinson’s. Visiting care allows you or someone close to you to have one-to-one care in the comfort of your own home, rather than going through the upheaval of moving into nursing or residential care.

Visiting care also helps you with everyday tasks which might be starting to become more difficult. That might be getting dressed, remembering to take your medication, getting to and from the bathroom, and other areas of personal care.

Whatever it is you need support with, our visiting carers are on hand to help, and always put your independence and privacy first.

The carers are good listeners and they help with everything. They give you space when you need it and don’t try to interfere. I couldn’t recommend a more pleasant care company.

Constant, round-the-clock care in Lichfield

Over time, you might feel that you need a more constant care presence. Or you might be concerned that a relative is struggling to cope and needs help throughout the day.

With live-in care, you’ll have your own carefully selected carer who move into your property alongside you so that you always have someone on hand to help when you need it.

There are many areas in which a live-in carer can support you and your family. It could be that you need help with using a mobility aid, using a bath or shower, continence care, or using a hoist. Alternatively, you might need a live-in carer to help you keep on top of household chores or pet care.

Your live-in carer will be a supportive companion as well as being on hand with practical aspects of care. They’ll even help you get around your local community.

Clinical and complex care in your own home

Working closely with a team of specialists, our carers can provide one-to-one support even if you have high-level, complex needs. We can support with conditions such as cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, and motor neurone, and can also help you with your recovery following a brain or spinal injury.

After going through specific training, our carers are able to carry out support with stomas, catheters, and tracheostomies. They also do everything possible to help you retain your independence and allow you to lead as much the same lifestyle as possible.

Your carer will be carefully chosen based on their experience and the shared interests you both have. After all, they’ll be by your side throughout the day!

Short-term care for when you need it the most

An estimated 3 in 5 people will become carers for a friend or relative at some point in their lives. Whilst it’s a rewarding and selfless act, caring for someone else brings great responsibility, on top of the other commitments you might have.

Delivered over a short-term period, respite care allows you to take some time for yourself and recharge, while still ensuring the person you’re supporting still has care which meets their needs.

We understand that having a few days or a couple of weeks away from your responsibilities can be difficult, but you can put your trust in our carers to follow your routines and rhythms and ensuring that your friend or relative has everything they need, ready for when you return.

Dementia care for your family

Because dementia affects people in different ways, the care that’s required should always be as unique as the person who is receiving it. It could be that your loved one just needs gentle reminders with medication or help at meal times, or more hands-on practical support.

Providing a tailored support service, our carers enable people with dementia to remain in their own homes, where they feel most comfortable. We’ve been caring for people with different types and stages of dementia since 1989, with independence always being one of our highest focuses.

Knowing you need additional support for a loved one is a significant decision. Our advisors can help you understand the support available for you and how it will fit in with your lifestyle. We’re always here to help.

Expert, fully-trained carers for your needs

Ensuring our carers deliver the most outstanding care with each person they support is something we’re both passionate about and strive for. And it all starts with the right training.

Many of our experts trainers have worked as carers themselves, bringing a wealth of knowledge and real-life experience to their work. Each of our Lichfield carers undergoes a three-day training programme, regardless of past experience, which covers everything they can expect to encounter in their customers’ homes.

Each carer is also directly employed by us and goes through detailed DBS and other background checks. We only provide the best carers for your family and our local managers will help you both get to know each other.

I’ve been a visiting carer for nearly five years now, and really enjoy it! The flexibility helps me to stay at home with my children in the daytime and work evenings and weekends.
