What’s included with personal care at Helping Hands?

Personal care services from Helping Hands Maidenhead covers anything and everything that you may need help at home with. From domestic duties such as cleaning, laundry and vacuuming, light gardening and preparing meals, to assistance with medication and help to safely mobilise around your home – our friendly carers will make sure they adhere to your preferences and needs whilst caring for you in your own home.

And it’s not just support inside your home that we offer. We can also assist you to get out and about, helping you to meet with friends and family, taking you to appointments and even having an afternoon strolling along the banks of the River Thames.

We’re here to enhance your everyday life and enable you to do the things you want to do, which may be so much more than assisting you with getting dressed or going to the toilet. We take a holistic approach to your care, meaning we support you in mind, body and soul.

Why you may need care

There’s lots of different reasons why someone may need personal care, but no two scenarios are the exact same. Perhaps you’re recovering from an illness or maybe you’ve noticed your elderly relative becoming frailer and needing extra support around their home.

Whatever your requirements, we can help, and to do this, we’ll arrange a home visit before we start your care so that we can get to know you in detail and create a tailored support plan around you. That way, you can all rest assured that every single one of your needs and preferences are adhered and listened to.

Carers for limited hour visits

You may only need support little and often throughout the week to help you keep on top of your housework or perhaps accompany you to the shops and back so that you can collect your groceries safely. With visiting care, we can arrange support from 30-minute visits to several hourly calls throughout the day, depending on your health care needs and requirements.

And for those that require additional support during the night, we also offer overnight care, too. This is an ideal option for someone that needs close monitoring or support to turn to prevent pressure sores, or even someone that becomes more anxious during the early hours by themselves and just needs a little reassurance.

Intermittent long-term visits

For those that require a temporary or short-term care solution – perhaps after a hospital admission or if their regular caregiver is taking some time off – respite care can be provided to cover your care needs until your caregiver returns or you feel more like yourself again.

We’ll ensure that we cover all of your needs, getting to know you alongside your existing caregiver (where applicable) before they take a step back, so that we can step in and support you in a seamless fashion.

Carers for immediate situations

We understand that care needs can crop up at any time and for any reason, that’s why our Windsor team are on hand to provide emergency care should the need arise for you or a loved one.

We can be with you usually within 24 hours, providing reassurance, peace of mind and professional support at a time when you need it most – whether that’s if another care organisation has let you down, you’ve had a fall or injury or your regular caregiver has been taken ill or is unavailable.

Carers in Maidenhead

Our compassionate and kind carers in Maidenhead really do make the difference between good care and exceptional care to our clients in the local area. Without our carers, we wouldn’t be able to provide the high-quality support that we’re known for. And it’s for this reason that we ensure we have a thorough assessment and selection process in place to recruit only the very best people to join us.

Part of this process involves an enhanced background check by the Disclosure Barring Service (DBS), as well as character references and being fully compliant with our safeguarding guidelines. New carers will then undergo our comprehensive training programme, where they learn everything they need in order to provide the right support to our clients.

Our in-house team teach them the skills for manual handling, dementia care, personal care, safeguarding, first aid and medication, so they are fully equipped to provide care in the local community to our high standards. We also hold regular refresher sessions for all experienced and established carers to ensure their practices are always up to date.
