Understanding your home care costs

At Helping Hands, we always strive to keep our home care costs as transparent as possible, so that you and your loved ones are always aware of what you’ll pay and there will consequently be no unpleasant surprises when your bill arrives. We offer two types of care – visiting and live-in, and whichever you choose you can be assured of value for money and the very highest standards of care delivery in the home you love.

Visiting care

Visiting care means that our carers will come to you as often as you need them, at prearranged times and for durations arranged in advance. By offering you visiting calls from just 30 minutes’ duration each week, you can have a package of care designed with your routine and needs in mind, ensuring that your personal and household tasks get undertaken to your satisfaction. This includes your personal care, medication routine, meal preparation, housework, laundry, mobility support and so much more, as well as helping you to access your community and attend appointments.

Here’s an outline of our visiting care fees:

Call us today to discuss your home care needs and get a full quote for visiting care. Our friendly team of advisors is here seven days a week to take your call and talk you through all the options.

Your quote for visiting care will be confirmed once your local care assessor has visited you at home to finalise your care and support plan and double-check we have everything covered.

Live-in care

The costs for visiting care can soon mount up so it may work out more economically to decide on live in care in Manchester. Live-in care sees one of our outstanding carers actually reside in your home with you, meaning that you get around-the-clock support and care as you need it, without having to wait for your visiting carer to arrive. Your live-in carer can undertake all of the same tasks as your visiting carers can with the added advantage that they are also there overnight if you happen to be taken ill or your condition takes a turn for the worse.

They can also offer you constant companionship. By remaining in the home you love to receive your care you may pay a little more than you would in a care home, however, the costs are negligible when you consider what you’re retaining – peace of mind for you and your loved ones that you’re exactly where you want to be, surrounded by precious memories, beloved people and pets and the security and comfort that can only come from being in the home you’ve enjoyed for decades.

Live in care costs start from:

£1,460 per week for a single person

£1,700 per week for a couple

This means that live in care can be cost-effective for couples, allowing them to stay in the home and the community that they know and love.

We cover the full range of home care services available, so our costs are based on your precise needs–this includes support with more complex healthcare requirements involved with types of dementia, for example. The cost of live-in care, or 24-hour care is dependent on the level of support you or your loved one requires.

Care funding options available in Manchester

Our care advisors can help you to decipher the huge amount of information that exists regarding care funding, making sure you have all of the most up to date information available. By looking at our pages on the funding options that may be open to you, either from your local authority or through continuing healthcare funding with the NHS, you can be sure that your local care team in Manchester will do everything they can to advise you accordingly.

Benefits available to you in Manchester

Although most of our customers pay for their care themselves, there may be funding options open to you. All of our customers are entitled to Attendance Allowance provided by the government, which is non-means tested, and other benefits are also available. Because our carers are employed directly by us, you and your loved ones don’t have to worry about the complexities of their employment as we look after all salary and contract matters.

This leaves you to focus on the most important thing – your care. We also accept direct payment top-ups if you’re receiving these from your local authority for your social care funding. Direct payments allow you to set-up care with your chosen provider and top-up payments if you need to. Speak to your local authority if you’re receiving social care funding and would like to opt for this arrangement.
