Home care in Plymouth
Visiting care and home care in Plymouth
As one of Britain’s largest seaports and naval bases, there is an abundance of history that resides in the city of Plymouth. And what was once a temporary home for Charles Darwin before he set sail on board the HMS Beagle, Plymouth is now a residence of one of the leading home care providers in the UK, Helping Hands.

Area Care Manager
My main roles and responsibilties as Area Care Manager are to oversee and improve the running of the branches within the South West. I am responsible for ensuring that our clients and carers are kept safe, and that the service we are providing is of high quality. I have always had a passion in caring for others. The term 'caring' for me has never been about rushing in and helping someone to get washed and dressed. For me it's about making a positive impact to someone else' s life; helping them achieve what they want, and enabling them to remain independent at home in the place that means the most to them. The care we provide at Helping Hands is of such high quality, and I truly believe that if my parents required care, Helping Hands would be the first I would contact. The carers always go over and above to ensure the clients are happy, and as an area care manager that's certainly one thing I can say I am proud of. It' s clear that all of us at Helping Hands live, sleep and breath the culture and we love what we do.

Home care Plymouth - expert services to suit your needs
Here at Helping Hands, we’ve been providing person-centred home care to thousands of families across England and Wales for over 30 years – so we know exactly what it takes to get it right. We understand that accepting the need for care can be daunting for you and your surrounding family.
That’s why Jacqueline and her team are here to provide comfort, guidance and support during every step of the process of arranging care, getting to know you and your preferences so that you can continue to live your life entirely on your terms.
With calls starting from as little as 45 minutes a week all the way up to overnight stays, our Plymouth team have the knowledge and experience to give you complete peace of mind that you’re in good hands. And it’s not just practical care that we focus on – your mental wellbeing is important to us too.
Whether you enjoy feeling the sea air down at Plymouth Hoe, or you just want someone to have a cup of tea and a chat with – we’re here for you.

Live in care tailored to your needs
If you require more intensive support for a complex condition or injury that limits your independence, live-in care could be the ideal solution for you. It’s in the name: live-in care is where one of our dedicated carers comes to live with you in your home to provide the round-the-clock support that is needed to keep you independent at home.
We understand that when it comes to care, everyone has their own individual needs and requirements – regardless of their condition. That’s why Jacqueline and her team will work with you to provide a bespoke live-in care package that focuses entirely around you and your needs. What’s more, we’ll ensure that you receive a carer who shares your hobbies and interests, so you’ll have more than just care – you’ll have friendship.

Why is Helping Hands better than a care agency in Plymouth
When it comes to providing reliable, compassionate home care, Helping Hands is a better choice than a care agency because we truly treasure the people we employ. Our carers really are our most valuable asset, and we do our utmost to ensure they’re fully supported and are always prepared to provide you with wonderful home care when you need it.
We operate differently to care agencies because we employ our carers directly and provide them with award-winning training, supporting them at all times. Being a private care provider also means that you won’t receive any surprise costs or unexpected fees – we’re completely transparent about the cost of our care, and we’ll take care of all the admin and paperwork that can often be such a great source of stress.
Over the course of our 30 years, we have received many accolades that we’re extremely proud of – such as being the first and only home care provider to be recognised as a Centre of Excellence by Skills for Care. However, none of this would have been possible without the commitment, compassion and kindness of our wonderful carers.
With their professional experience and award-winning training that includes moving and handling, personal care and safeguarding, each of our carers are fully equipped to support you with whatever it is you need. But perhaps most importantly, they all possess the one quality that is pivotal to becoming a part of our team: kindness.
As well as their comprehensive training course, each of our carers go through a stringent recruitment process as well as completing full background checks, such as Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) screenings. We are also fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) which ensures that we are always providing a safe, effective and responsive service.

Private Care In Plymouth
Built on a foundation of family values, we’ve been supporting families to remain independent in their homes for over 30 years. Big enough to give you the support you need, yet still small enough to care, Helping Hands is committed to enabling you to remain safe, happy and independent at home.
With private care, you have the freedom to decide the frequency and intensity of the support you receive. And with no restrictions on mealtimes or menus, no regimented visiting times and no daily schedules to follow, the control of your care is only in the hands of the person who matters most – you.
Care needs can often arise unexpectedly, often with such little notice that finding an alternative seems almost impossible. You may have been discharged from hospital following an unexpected illness or injury and don’t feel comfortable being home alone just yet, or perhaps your regular caregiver needs to tend to an emergency elsewhere.
Whatever it is you need, we’ll make sure that you suffer no detriment to your usual care routine and put a package of respite care in place that ensures you have the care you need, for as long as you need it.
