Live-in care and visiting care tailored to you in Plymouth
As one of Britainβs largest seaports and naval bases, there is an abundance of history that resides in the city of Plymouth. And what was once a temporary home for Charles Darwin before he set sail on board the HMS Beagle, Plymouth is now a residence of one of the leading home care providers in the UK: Helping Hands.
With a dedicated team of carers across Plymouth, Saltash, Callington, Tavistock, Horrabridge, Yealmpton, Ivybridge, Ermington, Wembury, Torpoint, Whitechurch and the surrounding areas, our Plymouth branch is here to provide dedicated, person-centred support that helps you to remain independent at home.
Meet Jacqueline, our Branch Manager

βHello! Iβm Jacqueline, the Manager at Helping Handsβ Plymouth branch. I have lived in Plymouth for the last 40 years, growing up in Hooe with my family. I have been in care since 1993 and worked in a variety of roles. I chose to make the move to home care 5 years ago, due to my own personal palliative experience caring for my mother and seeing a need for great improvement in the domiciliary care sector. I am incredibly passionate about supporting and developing our fantastic carers, providing the best quality of care for our customers and looking after their well-being, so that they can remain independent in their own homes.β
Meet our team
Visiting home care delivered to you across Plymouth
Here at Helping Hands, weβve been providing person-centred home care to thousands of families across England and Wales for over 30 years β so we know exactly what it takes to get it right. We understand that accepting the need for care can be daunting for you and your surrounding family. Thatβs why Jacqueline and her team are here to provide comfort, guidance and support during every step of the process of arranging care, getting to know you and your preferences so that you can continue to live your life entirely on your terms.
With calls starting from as little as 30 minutes a week all the way up to overnight stays, our Plymouth team have the knowledge and experience to give you complete peace of mind that youβre in good hands. And itβs not just practical care that we focus on β your mental wellbeing is important to us too. Whether you enjoy feeling the sea air down at Plymouth Hoe, or you just want someone to have a cup of tea and a chat with β weβre here for you.

Helping Hands are the true meaning of the word ‘caring’. They are just the best; they’re professional and empathetic. The carers become part of the family. They’re just amazing, dedicated people.
Bruce, a visiting care customer

I became a carer because I like to help others achieve their goals. I would also say that my family are my inspiration.
Daniel, a live-in carer

Unintrusive live-in care that is tailored to your needs
If you require more intensive support for a complex condition or injury that limits your independence, live-in care could be the ideal solution for you. Itβs in the name: live-in care is where one of our dedicated carers comes to live with you in your home to provide the round-the-clock support that is needed to keep you independent at home.
We understand that when it comes to care, everyone has their own individual needs and requirements β regardless of their condition. Thatβs why Jacqueline and her team will work with you to provide a bespoke live-in care package that focuses entirely around you and your needs. Whatβs more, weβll ensure that you receive a carer who shares your hobbies and interests, so youβll have more than just care β youβll have friendship.

Domiciliary care in Plymouth
Built on a foundation of family values, weβve been supporting families to remain independent in their homes for over 30 years. Big enough to give you the support you need, yet still small enough to care, Helping Hands is committed to enabling you to remain safe, happy and independent at home.
With domiciliary care from Jacqueline and her team, domiciliary care gives you the freedom to decide the frequency and intensity of the support you receive. And with no restrictions on mealtimes or menus, no regimented visiting times and no daily schedules to follow, the control of your care is only in the hands of the person who matters most β you.
Expert dementia care for you and your loved ones
There are over 100 different variants of dementia, all of which can affect an individual in different ways – but they can still be equally distressing for the person that is living with the condition and their surrounding family. With specialist dementia care from Jacqueline and her team, weβll be there to give you expert care and guidance on every step of your dementia journey.
As one of the UKβs leading dementia specialists, weβre here to help you with anything from the practicalities such as personal care, to learning how to understand the symptoms of your condition, so you can continue to make the most out of each day and your time with your family.
Elderly care to support your independence
As we grow older, our bodies can often become weaker and our minds arenβt always as quick as they once were β but that doesnβt necessarily mean that we lose our desire for independence. With elderly care from our Plymouth team, weβll work with you and your loved ones to ensure that you have the support you need to remain safe and independent at home.
Whether you need support with your personal care, assistance with your household chores or simply a companion to enjoy a cup of tea with, weβre here to give you the help you need so that you can continue to enjoy each day in the place you know best.
Respite care for as long as you need it
Care needs can often arise unexpectedly, often with such little notice that finding an alternative seems almost impossible. You may have been discharged from hospital following an unexpected illness or injury and donβt feel comfortable being home alone just yet, or perhaps your regular caregiver needs to tend to an emergency elsewhere. Whatever it is you need, weβll make sure that you suffer no detriment to your usual care routine and put a package of respite care in place that ensures you have the care you need, for as long as you need it.
Request a callback Email usFriendly, expert carers that are committed to you
Over the course of our 30 years, we have received many accolades that weβre extremely proud of – such as being the first and only home care provider to be recognised as a Centre of Excellence by Skills for Care. However, none of this would have been possible without the commitment, compassion and kindness of our wonderful carers.
With their professional experience and award-winning training that includes moving and handling, personal care and safeguarding, each of our carers are fully equipped to support you with whatever it is you need. But perhaps most importantly, they all possess the one quality that is pivotal to becoming a part of our team: kindness.
As well as their comprehensive training course, each of our carers go through a stringent recruitment process as well as completing full background checks, such as Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) screenings. We are also fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) which ensures that we are always providing a safe, effective and responsive service.
