Visiting care and home care in Reigate

Reigate derives from the Old English meaning ‘roe deer’ and ‘gate', as Reigate was thought to have been used as a deer hunting park in medieval times. Famous for its rich history and scenic Reigate Castle, Reigate was also used as a tile-making hub during the Roman era. With its many beautiful parks such as Lower Gatton Park and Reigate Heath, it can be hard to consider leaving this lovely town.

With Helping Hands, you won’t have to! We offer bespoke live-in, visiting or respite care within your own home. We’re regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), so we’re always up to scratch. We know you deserve the best for your health and with over 30 years of experience, we can provide it.

High-quality home care in Reigate

We’re the best of the best when it comes to care. If what you’re after is an extra pair of hands lately to help with the washing up, to bake that Victoria Sponge, or to help walk the dog along Reigate Heath, we can help. Our carers are great at household chores, shopping errands and meal preparation. Our visiting care starts from just 30 minutes a week, and we also offer respite care if what you’re after is just a short-term solution to your needs. Creating a daily routine and assistance with personal care like bathing and dressing will all help you to get the best possible quality out of life.

24/7 live-in care support

Perhaps you need a bit more of a hands-on approach if what you need is a more around-the-clock carer. With our live-in support, we can provide the care you need within the comfort of your own home. Our carers are trained in all sorts of conditions such as Parkinson’s, dementia, strokes, and cancer care. We also offer nurse-led care, which allows NHS-trained nurses to train our carers in more complex medical needs. This can range from nephrostomy care, ventilation care or general medication administration. All our carers are passionate about helping others and would be happy to join you in your home.

Why Helping Hands is better than a care agency in Reigate

Here at Helping Hands, we take the time to get to know you and your condition. We offer care within your own home so you can remain where you love the most, surrounded by your loved ones. If you’re dealing with an emergency and need urgent care, we endeavour to be at your door within 24 hours. Our carers can deal with a lot – but they’re also handpicked to match your interests and personality and make wonderful companions. This way, you’ll not only gain an experienced carer in your home, but you could be soon showing off the wonderful Reigate Castle with your new best friend.

Qualified carers providing a variety of care services in Reigate

Our carers are handpicked for their kindness, compassion, and genuine love of helping others. DBS checked; we make sure they’re the best men and women for the job. Trained in a variety of conditions, we offer specialist training for some conditions. For instance, we award the Dementia Champion accreditation to the carers who have completed the highest standard of dementia care. They go above and beyond every day to make themselves and the company proud. If you want to hear more about our care options, feel free to contact us over the phone or via our Live Chat.

FAQs

Home care visits from one of our friendly carers allows you to have support with the daily activities you might be struggling with, while still allowing you to keep your independence.

The Horley carers always strive for a consistent, person-centred approach in their work and are able to assist with personal care, mobility and medication administration. And if you have more complex care needs such as a stoma or catheter, our clinical nurse team are on hand to make sure your needs can be met whilst you still live independently in your own home.

Because everyone is different, the team will work with you to understand your needs and put together a completely unique care plan to ensure these needs are always met. We can even provide care during the night time so that you can be assured help will always be on hand if you need it.

If you’re finding that you need additional support or you’re worried about leaving a relative alone, live-in care in Horley ensures safety and quality care at all times.

Not only can a live-in carer support you with tasks like administering medication and helping you to use the bathroom, but they’ll also get involved in the things that matter most to you. They will take you to see family and friends, go out for a walk with you, and even look after the family pets if you have any.

With domiciliary care, you are in complete control of your care and how you receive it. We will make a couple of calls a week to help you with your shopping or accompany you to social events. Or, we can make several calls throughout the day to keep on top of your personal care – we’ll make sure to find the best arrangement that works for you.

As well as supporting those in their senior years, we also assist young adults from the age of 18 upwards. Often referred to as Personal Assistants (PAs) or Support Workers, we’ll make sure that the care you receive is delivered on your terms. So, if you’d prefer your PA not to wear a uniform when they’re out and about with you, that’s absolutely fine.

A consistent, familiar routine is always important when looking after someone with dementia. Moving into residential care can disrupt this routine and the change in environment can also cause emotional distress, but with one-to-one care from our carers, you and your loved one can still enjoy your home comforts.

Each of our dementia care carers in Horley undertakes specific dementia training so they can fully understand how to help your loved one in a way that preserves their independence and keeps to the structure that you are all used to.

Our carers also understand that dementia affects every family differently. That’s why getting to know you all plays a key role in the care they provide. And because we’re part of the Dementia Action Alliance (DAA), we’re fully committed to providing a safe, quality service at all times.

Becoming older can often bring extra worries and anxieties, especially if you’re unsteady on your feet or you’ve been diagnosed with a progressive condition such as Parkinson’s. The elderly care team at Horley are here to alleviate your concerns and keep you safe, looked after, and above all, happy, whilst still remaining in your beloved home.

We’ll also enable you to keep your existing routines such as catching up with friends, visiting family and doing your weekly food shop. And if your needs do change, we’ll swiftly adapt your existing care package to make sure everything is taken care of.

Being the main carer for a relative or a friend can be a lot to take on, especially if you have other family members to consider or other commitments such as work. It’s natural and understandable that sometimes, you just need a bit of time to focus on you.

Respite care allows you to have a break while being reassured that someone will be there to help your loved one while you’re away. Our team can even arrange for a carer to accompany your family on a holiday, allowing you to all enjoy some time together and make new memories.

Starting from as little as a few days up to four weeks, respite care can also be useful if you have a relative coming out of hospital or if your needs change without warning. And we can arrange for care to be in place quickly ready for those unforeseen circumstances.

Unlike many other providers, all of our carers are directly employed by us and go through an extended and award-winning training programme regardless of any previous experience they have.

Our carers also have regular refresher training days and some even go on to train in specialist areas of care. Training for our visiting carers takes place locally and our live-in carers go through a five-day course at our bespoke Centre of Excellence in Warwickshire.

Because we’re also regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), all of our carers are trained to deliver care that is not only safe but also puts a strong focus on emotional wellbeing.
