Visiting care and home care in Sutton-in-Ashfield

Situated a stone’s throw away from Mansfield and the city of Nottingham is the quiet market town of Sutton-in-Ashfield. The area dates back to the Saxon times and features in the Doomsday Book, with many famous kings and queens passing through on their travels up and down the country. The town was even the site of an American Army Hospital during World War II and was linked to the University of California. Continuing its caring ways, the town is now home to a brand-new branch of Helping Hands Home Care, renowned for supporting those in need of extra live-in care at home.

Our friendly Sutton-in-Ashfield team are able to offer a variety of different care services to suit you and your existing and changing needs. From short, flexible care calls that assist you with personal care, getting to the shops and keeping on top of the housework, to full-time live-in care for more complex clinical needs, where a carer will live with you in your home – we can find the right type of support that suits you and your situation. Get in touch with us today to begin planning your own personalised care plan.

Home care Sutton-in-Ashfield - maintain your independence

It’s not always easy admitting that you need extra help and support, but with visiting home care from our friendly team in Sutton-in-Ashfield, we can make sure that the care you receive is completely tailored to you and everything is taken at your pace. We’ll enable you to do the things you want to do, rather than take over and do everything for you. So, if you need assistance with bathing but you like to wash your face yourself with a flannel, or if you struggle to get dressed but like to tend to your hair yourself, we’ll adapt around you.

And it’s not just those over 65 that we care for. We can support anyone over the age of 18 who requires additional support at home, in work or whilst studying. We’ll even help you to maintain your social life if you need assistance getting to and from your friend’s house or want to join local clubs or activity groups. And if you want to call your carer your ‘support worker’ or ‘personal assistant’, you’re very welcome to – it’s your care, so you should feel comfortable at all times.

Sutton-in-Ashfield live-in care

For those with more complex health conditions or couples who require regular support, live-in care could be the ideal option for you. Living with you in your home, a carer will be there round-the-clock to assist when and where you need it – either during the night, throughout the day or when going out and about.

Our clinical leads have extensive experience in the public and private health sectors and can oversee any complex health care needs that you may need support with from a live-in carer. Covering support with PEG feeding, tracheostomies and continence & stoma care, our clinical nurses ensure that your live-in carers have the right training and support to deliver expert care to you where you feel most comfortable: in your own home.

We understand how daunting it might be to welcome someone to your home who will be living with you. This is why we make sure that we work with you to select a carer who is totally right for you – from their previous care experience, personality and interests, we’ll ensure that you’re paired with someone similar to you so that you can build up trust and respect between one another and even create a possible friendship.

Take back control with domiciliary care

Domiciliary care is the traditional term for care at home and is the complete opposite of going into a care home. It’s where you can have the freedom and independence of receiving live-in care when you require it and in a way that’s meaningful to you. For one visit, you may need assistance getting to and from the shops and unloading your groceries, but perhaps in your next care call, you may need help washing your hair if you struggle to reach over your head. The possibilities really are endless, but the most important thing is that your care is centred around you and not prescribed to you – you always have control.

Extra reassurance with Sutton-in-Ashfield dementia care

Receiving a diagnosis of dementia is difficult to grasp for all involved; the individual with the condition will have to come to terms with making changes to their lives, which, if they’re used to doing everything for themselves, may be quite difficult. Additionally, although their family may have probably noticed changes in their loved one, it may be hard to accept that they will eventually have lots of different symptoms to cope with that may be quite upsetting.

Dementia care from the team in Sutton-in-Ashfield will help all of you with this diagnosis. Whether it’s vascular dementia, Alzheimer’s or Pick’s disease, the team will provide that extra reassurance to all of you and ensure that your loved one is getting the right care and support suited for them. And because all of our carers have dedicated dementia training, we can provide specific support around their condition that has been approved by our dementia specialists.

Elderly care in Sutton-in-Ashfield

Just because you’ve reached your more senior years and are perhaps less mobile than you used to be, it doesn’t mean that you can’t still live a life full of vitality and freedom. With elderly care from the team in Sutton-in-Ashfield, we can support you to keep your home clean and tidy, keep up with your hobbies in and outside of your home and help you to get further afield to visit friends and family if you wish. And if you find that some weeks you might just like to help watering the plants or having a cup of tea and a chat about the latest reality TV programme, we can do just that too. Care is so much more than just helping with daily tasks; it’s about ensuring your physical and mental well-being is cared for.

Respite care for when you need to take a break

If you care for a loved one full-time or part-time, you are dedicating a lot of time to supporting someone else. But sometimes, you need some support too, and that could be in the guise of taking a few weeks off to go on holiday or just taking a week for yourself so that you can catch up with friends and concentrate on yourself. Respite care can be the perfect stopgap between your breaks, enabling your loved one to still get the care they need without compromising on the quality or routines that you’ve already set up, whilst also allowing you to take a well-earned break.

We can also support you during an emergency when you need urgent support – perhaps you’ve just been discharged from the hospital, or the person you rely on to provide your care has fallen ill. Our carers are on hand to step in and give you the peace of mind that you need at a time of crisis, and they can usually be available within 24 hours.

Award-winning training for our carers in Sutton-in-Ashfield

We are only ever as good as our live-in carers who deliver the support and assistance to our customers across England and Wales, which is why we invest so much time into our new and existing carers. Before they officially join us, they are given a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to ensure we have the highest quality candidates. Once successful, they are then required to attend training to equip them with the skills and knowledge they will need when coming to visit you in your home. Modules cover first aid, safeguarding, medication, manual handling and personal care and are delivered by our experienced in-house instructors.

We are also regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) – the governing body for care in England. This means that our care and services are consistently monitored for safety, efficacy and responsiveness, as well as how we look after and train our live-in carers and how our company is led – ultimately ensuring that the care you receive is managed effectively.
