What’s included with care at Helping Hands?

Home care from Helping Hands Watford can start from as little as 30 minutes per week, where we can support you with daily domestic duties, such as help with the laundry, cleaning, vacuuming and changing the beds, tending to your pets and helping you water your plants. We can also support with running your errands, such as collecting your prescription, and accompanying you to doctor or hairdresser appointments.

Many of our customers require assistance with washing, toileting, getting dressed and personal care, and we know how daunting it might be to have someone new come into your home to help you with these elements of care. We’ll fully discuss this with you beforehand, so that you’re comfortable with your carers and so that we get it just right.

Why you may need live in care

There are many different reasons why someone may need home care, but there is never a set support plan or set times for someone to receive care, as we acknowledge how different and unique each individual is. We have several different services as part of our home care offer that may help you continue living the life you want to lead:

Carers for limited hour visits

For those who are used to being independent and who may only need additional support here and there, visiting care could be the ideal solution for them. We’ll pop in at a time that suits you and help you around your home, remind you to take your medication or prepare you lunch and wash up the dishes afterwards so that you can have a rest. We’ll even be there if you if you become anxious during the early hours or need help overnight with getting in and out of bed, so that you can rest and relax safe in the knowledge that there is someone that to support you should you need it.

Intermittent long-term visits

Caring for a loved one is one of the most rewarding yet difficult jobs there is. Taking a break should be a vital part of your care routine, and whilst you step back, we can step in with respite care. We’ll meet with both of you beforehand so that we replicate your existing care routines and take over from you in a seamless way, giving you both peace of mind that everything will be kept the same whilst you have some time apart.

Carers for immediate situations

There are lots of situations where care needs can arise without warning or being able to plan. As well as been quite a stressful situation, you want to know that someone can swiftly get to you and provide you with the care and support you need. Our emergency care service enables us to be with you, usually within 24 hours of you getting in touch with us, so you don’t have to worry about being left too long without care. We’ll be with you as long as you need – whether that’s after a hospital discharge until you’re back on your feet again, until your regular caregiver returns if they’ve become unavailable or until you’re feeling better after an accident or illness.
