Visiting care and home care in Blackburn

Lying to the south of the Yorkshire Dales is the vibrant town of Blackburn. As well as featuring in a famous Beatles’ song, it’s also home to one of the founding members of The Football League – Blackburn Rovers. But perhaps most importantly, it’s also where outstanding care is providing for customers of Helping Hands.

The team enable people to live independently in Blackburn, Feniscowles, Mellor, Oswaldtwistle, Pleasington, Riley Green, Rishton, Wilpshire and the surrounding areas.

We aim to meet all of your care needs and fit our care packages around you, no matter what your needs are. We offer a range of specialised care, from visiting care to ensure you’re able to get out and about, all the way through to palliative care.

Visiting home care in Blackburn to suit you

For 30 years, Helping Hands have specialised in providing quality home care whilst you are surrounded by your home comforts. Covering a range of different requirements and conditions, we can offer support for anything from living with muscular dystrophy, autism or cerebral palsy, to dementia, a stroke or Parkinson’s, as well as many more.

From as little as 30 minutes per week to several daily calls, our care fits around you and your schedule. The team can support many things to support you at home, including:

    • Personal care – Help to dress, shower and with toileting needs
    • Medication – Supporting you to administer medication and ensuring you have everything you need.
    • Mobility support – Assisting you to get around you home or out and about in Blackburn.
    • Household duties – Helping you with cleaning, cooking and answering letters.

Perhaps one of the most important things that our carers deliver is companionship. It could be that you want to pop down to the local shops to get some grocery’s, but you just don’t feel able to alone. Or it may be that you enjoy having a cup of tea and slice of cake whilst sitting in the garden. Our carers provide much more than practical care: they’re suited to you and your personality to ensure you get the very best support with a smile.

Live-in care to enable you to remain at home

As time goes by, it may be that you need more regular support to enable you to still stay at home. Residential care isn’t for everyone and Helping Hands offer the best solution instead of that option – a live-in carer to live with you in your home and provide round-the-clock support.

Even if you live with a partner or a beloved pet, our live-in carers are matched to your situation. So if you have a canine companion that needs walking twice a day, but you’re unable to do this unassisted, the carer chosen by you will be able to do this with you.

One of the biggest advantages to having a fully-trained live-in carer is the freedom of choice you still get. Being able to choose when you want to get up and what time you have breakfast may seem like a small freedom, but not being constrained to routines and regulations is one of the many benefits of receiving care within your own home.

    Care Agency In Blackburn

At Helping Hands we’re not a home care agency, as we directly employ all of our carers and our visiting and live-in care services are fully managed by an amazing team of professionals across England and Wales. We’ve always been a private home care company since we were founded in 1989, and our ethos has always been to provide the best care possible to our customers in the comfort of their own homes. You’ll never be charged hidden costs or referral fees by us because we believe in keeping our services fully transparent. You’ll also never have to employ or manage your carer yourself either, because we take care of all that for you, meaning you and your carer only have to concentrate on the thing that matters most – your care.

    Domiciliary care in Blackburn

Traditionally known as domiciliary care, care within your own home enables the control to be completely in your hands. We aim to assist and support you or a loved one to be as independent as they possibly can.

Even if you require more complex care for PEG feeding or stoma, we have a team of clinical nurses that support our care staff. This means that you have total peace of mind that you are fully supported no matter what you are living with.

Dementia support from our expert team

As dementia care specialists, we understand how upsetting it can be to live with or care for someone with dementia. And with over 100 different strains of the condition, we are experienced at assisting with the variety of complexities that dementia has to offer.

With complete and utter compassion, the team at our Blackburn branch will make you or you loved one feel at ease with consistent and professional care suited to you.

Elderly care built around your routines

As ambassadors for person-centred care, we strive to uphold your independence and freedom of choice. It can be quite daunting to accept a new person into your home, particularly if you’ve previously been very active and independent. The Blackburn team will always keep your preferences at the forefront of the care they provide – whether that’s taking you to Blackburn Library once a week to pick out some of your favourite novels or taking a short stroll around Witton Country Park.

    Respite care in Blackburn

Providing care for a loved one can be one of the most rewarding jobs that you will ever do, but with any job, we all need a break at some point. Respite care can be a great short-term solution to allow you the chance for a bit of rest and recuperation whilst safe in the knowledge your loved one is receiving the quality care they would expect from you.

It may be that you are recovering after a stay in hospital and need support at home whilst you convalesce. Or there may be a family emergency that require the urgent attention from your regular caregiver. The team in Blackburn can offer anything from several hours of respite support to staying with your loved one for several days until you are able to return.

    Fully-trained carers in Blackburn

We’re extremely proud of each and every one of our carers. The kindness and empathy they express with everyone that they support makes them truly fantastic carers. They all receive full background checks – including Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) checks – along with being fully-trained to provide the highest standard of care. The award-winning training program includes manual handling, finance, safeguarding, first aid and medication support.

As the only home care provider endorsed as a Centre of Excellence by Skills for Care, not to mention being fully licensed by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), we are constantly ensuring the highest standard of care possible.
