We’ve never been a care agency at Helping Hands – we’re proud of the fact that we’ve been a private home care company since we were founded in 1989 and we are still living by the same mission and values today. We employ all of our care workers directly, unlike care agencies do, as they’ll ‘introduce’ you and your care worker and then leave you to manage every aspect of their employment. We take care of everything though, leaving you and your care worker to focus on the most important aspect of all – your wellbeing.

When you have a care worker living in your home you may be concerned about how you’ll get on with one another or whether your home won’t feel like your own anymore, however with our amazing live-in care workers there are no such concerns. Our teams work tirelessly to match you with a care worker who will complement your way of life and support your hobbies and interests and because we believe that’s an important part of our service we never charge extra for it, unlike introductory care agencies do. We understand that having someone living in may take a little getting used to, but you’ll quickly become friends and you’ll soon wonder how you ever managed at home without them.

Being a private care company and remaining in control of our entire branch network means we can insist upon constant high standards of care and take immediate action if those standards are not being carried out. We have almost 150 branches across Wales and England, closely monitored by a team of managers in the field, and because we don’t allow franchises we know that every one of those branches will maintain their local service as a matter of pride and dedication to the customers in their area.

We understand what it takes to make someone an exceptional care worker, and we provide training and development to complement the skills and experience our dedicated professionals may already have. However, there is something we can’t teach and that’s the ability to care for others naturally, the desire to help people selflessly and compassionately. Therefore, we carefully select our care workers to ensure that they have the natural skills that we require, but your safety is also top of our priority list; consequently, we thoroughly check our care workers backgrounds and screen them through the DBS before allowing them to enter your home or care for you. We are also fully regulated by the Care Inspectorate Wales who ensure we are providing effective, safe and responsive care at all times, which is another assurance an introductory care agency won’t be able to give you.
