Visiting and live-in care in London

Capital of England and home to nearly 9 million people, London has an abundance of sights, sounds and opportunities, and really is the place to be to soak up modern British culture.

Famous for its iconic skyline featuring historical riches such as Buckingham Palace, Houses of Parliament and the Globe Theatre – to the more modern London Eye, The Shard and The Walkie-Talkie – London is also home to industry-renowned home care from Helping Hands.

Our London-based team have tailored visiting and live in care options in all 33 boroughs of London including Kensington & Chelsea, Westminster, Hammersmith & Fulham, Wandsworth, Lambeth, Southwark, Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Islington, Camden, Brent, Ealing, Merton, Lewisham, Greenwich, Newham, Haringey and the surrounding areas.

We will ensure person-centred care is provided to you in your home, regardless of where you’re located in the city or your care needs.

Meet Ursula, our Head of Homecare

“Hi, I’m Ursula. I am the Head of Homecare for the South East Region. I am responsible for the structure and support of our carers in the London and Essex region, ensuring that our customers receive the seamless and compassionate service that Helping Hands is known for.

“I have worked in the healthcare sector for 12 years, but after having my second baby boy I decided I wanted to do something more meaningful. After my previous experience I know how important it is to provide an exceptional quality of care to those who need it, and I’m incredibly proud to work for a company that does just that.”

Home care visits in London to suit you

Since 1989, we have paved the way in providing the very best home care services and continue to do so today. Our expertise lies in our ability to tailor care that suits your needs and routines, and enable you to remain independent within the comforts of your own surroundings.

With thorough in-house training for every single one of our carers, we’re equipped to deal with a variety of conditions – whether you’re just starting university and need mobility support to get to and from campus, or if you’re struggling to complete of all your housework due to your Parkinson’s diagnosis – we’re here to help.

We offer anything from 30 minutes a week to routinely calling several times a day. Whether you need support with your mobility while you go about your daily life, assistance in getting dressed and ready for the day or just a friendly face to pop in for a cup of tea and a chat – we’re here to give you the support you need, when you need it.

It’s not just the practicalities that we’ll take care of; emotional health is just as important for your well-being. So if it’s a trip to Victoria Park for some fresh air or going to Westfield for a cup of coffee and a mooch around the shops, we’ll be there to accompany you.

When I’m with my carer, and they’re helping me, I don’t really feel like I’ve got a disability…I think the biggest thing is that they just make me feel like a normal person.

Domiciliary care across London

Also known as care at home, Domiciliary care is the perfect option for you if you still want the freedom of choosing when and how you want to receive care.

Despite any medical or physical needs you may have, we recognise how important it is to remain independent in your own home. Available to anyone from the age of 18 all the way up to 100 and beyond, domiciliary care offers the familiarity of seeing the same face every day or once a week, who will put your needs first.

Dementia support from our specialists

As a Dementia Care Specialist, we’re equipped to support the different types of dementia that nearly 850,000 individuals are living with across the UK.

An often unsettling and confusing time for family members and the individual, we understand how symptoms can change and develop over time. With compassion and professionalism, our expert team of carers will alleviate any concerns and provide person-centred care to maximise comfort.

Elderly care centred around you

As time goes by, it can become more difficult to do the things you used to do. You may find that you’re unable to keep on top of your housework or even find it difficult to get in and out of the shower. The beauty of elderly care is that you retain your independence as much as possible, without compensating on safety and support.

Ursula’s team will spend time getting to know your requirements and preferences, making sure that you’ve got everything you need to keep you happy and content.

Respite care for short-term breaks

Being a carer for a loved one is one of the most rewarding jobs there is, but there is also sometimes the need to have a quick break to recharge your batteries, benefitting both of you. To ensure that disruption remains minimal, our team can deliver respite care that will replicate your existing routines.

Respite care is also a suitable option for those recovering after being discharged from hospital and who need a short-term package of care at home. With care usually able to begin in as little as 24 hours, we can also cover family emergencies or a change in circumstance if your regular carer is unable to reach you.

Award-winning training for our London carers

As one of the most established care providers in the UK, we know what it takes to train carers to an exceptional standard, enabling you to receive the very best care. With all training completed in-house, we deliver induction and refresher training covering manual handling, first aid, dementia, safeguarding, medication and health & safety.

All of our carers receive full background checks – including Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) screening – and are employed directly by us, taking the stress out of any paperwork or procedures you may have experienced with previous care providers.

Fully licensed by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), we adhere to strict guidelines and regulations to ensure we meet the highest of standards within the care industry. We’re also the first and only home care provider to be recognised as a Centre of Excellence by Skills for Care, which we are extremely proud of.
