Why choose home care at Helping Hands Manchester

For over 30 years, we’ve been caring for people in their own homes and supporting them to live the life they want to lead. Whether that’s being able to get out in their local community and visit friends, or getting washed and dressed to start the day, we take the lead from our customers to create care around them.

CQC accredited home care from Helping Hands gives you the freedom and choice of doing what you want to do when you want to do it, whilst also being able to alter your care calls and length of visits to suit you. So, if you need to increase the care you receive because you need extra help with cleaning the house as well as supporting you with personal care, we can do just that.

What’s included with home care at Helping Hands?

Helping Hands home care includes any and everything that you need to stay in the comfort of your own home and remain as independent as possible. This may begin with someone collecting your shopping and prescriptions, helping out with the housework, and watering the plants in your garden, to the more personal elements of care such as washing, dressing, and support with continence.

As well as assisting you with the practicalities, our carers from the Manchester branch will be there to support you emotionally and spiritually too. Care is so much more than completing tasks; it’s about taking time to get to know you and doing the activities that improve your wellbeing, such as taking a trip to a local café together, creating crafts at your kitchen table, or having a chat over a cup of tea.

Why you may need home care

There may be a number of reasons that you require care at home. You may need regular elderly care support throughout the week, or you may require dementia care to help you live well with your conditon. It could also be that your loved one needs to call on respite support while they take a break from caring for you. You may even have just been discharged from hospital and need help whilst you recover. Whatever the cause, we’ll be there when you need us most.

Carers for limited hour visits

Some people only require care for short periods of time, which is where our local Manchester care team can pop in and see you from just 30 minutes per week. They can help with anything from preparing meals, vacuuming, or changing the beds, to helping you with medication and getting in and around your home.

They can even provide overnight care if you require extra support with getting in and out of bed, or need help with specific medicine. This type of care may be particularly useful for someone living with dementia, who may become quite confused and disorientated if they wake in the middle of the night. Having night care can relieve the anxieties felt by you and your loved ones, knowing that someone will be there for you should you need them.

Intermittent long-term visits

Should you need periods of round-the-clock care when your regular care giver is unable to provide support, respite care is ideal for filling in for your carer while they take a break for a week or so, allowing you both to recharge your batteries. Intermittent long-term visits mean that you can still stay in the comfort of your own home without having to move into residential care, while your regular carer takes some time for themselves. Your routines and preferences will be maintained, and you may even make a new friend in the form of your respite carer from the Manchester team.

Carers for immediate situations

Sometimes care needs arise without any notice – whether your loved one that normally cares for you has to tend to an urgent matter or if you have had an accident or illness that requires you to have care swiftly put into place. Emergency care can be arranged by the Manchester team often within the same day of you making your initial enquiry, so you get the support you require in your time of need.
