Helping Hands have been supporting people to remain safe and cared for in the comfort of their own homes for over 30 years. Our compassionate carers will come to your home and undertake everything you need support with to ensure you get to live your best life possible, and with us being fully regulated by the CQC and CIW, you know we’re the ones to trust with yours or your loved ones’ care at home. We can support you in and around Stockton on Tees, Elm Tree Farm, Fairfield, Thorpe Thewles, Newtown, Norton, Carlton, Elton, Long Newton, Redmarshall, Billingham and the surrounding areas.
Stockton-on-Tees has some amazing claims to fame; the fossilised remains of the most northerly hippopotamus ever discovered on Earth were discovered in Stockton-on-Tees in 1958, and it also became the site of the world’s first permanent steam-locomotive-powered passenger railway when the first rail of George Stephenson’s Stockton and Darlington Railway was laid in 1822.
At Helping Hands we’re proud of our heritage too and although we’re not yet as famous as Stockton-on-Tees, we’re well-known across all of England and Wales for our superlative standards of visiting and live-in care.
"I am passionate about coaching and developing people to achieve their career goals and aspirations, motivating them to deliver an outstanding level of service to our customers, colleagues and carers. What gets me out of bed in the morning is knowing that today could be the day that I make a real difference to someone. To relax when not working I love nothing more than spending time with family and long walks along the Northumberland coast with my three crazy dogs."
For over 30 years, we've been supporting people with care, nurse-supported care and companionship across England and Wales. As industry-leaders in home care, we know what it takes to provide the right level of care so that you can retain your independence in the comfort of your beloved home.

With visiting care from Helping Hands you get a superlative standard of care at home, along with a flexible package that will alter as your needs do. Regardless of what condition you’re living with we can support you, as our experienced and knowledgeable carers are experts in caring for our customers in their own homes. We can support you with personal care, medication, meal preparation, housework and so much more, so if you need care talk to us today.
With live-in care you get the security and reassurance of knowing that someone is in the house with you at all times, meaning that your loved ones can relax in the knowledge that you’re never alone at home. As well as full care you also get companionship as often as you want it, and your carer will be able to undertake all the tasks in the house that you can no longer manage, such as personal care, housework, meal preparation, laundry and so much more.
Because Helping Hands is not a home care agency and we directly employ all of our carers and staff, it motivates our teams to feel passionate about their roles and driven to achieve the best results possible for our customers. Not being an agency also means you also don’t have to pay us referral fees and other costs that agencies often demand, so you get better value care as a result.
When you choose domiciliary care from Helping Hands you don’t just get the support of a compassionate carer; you also get the benefit of our over 30 years of experience in the home care industry. Since we began in 1989, our focus has always been to provide outstanding, person-centred visiting and live-in care to each of our customers, ensuring we promote your independence at all times and keep you happy, safe and comfortable in the home you love.
Because we have over 30 years’ dementia care experience you really can trust us to understand all forms of dementia and the effect they can have on someone living with the condition. Even though you may not require care at the start of your journey with dementia, we can be with you every step of the way as the condition progresses, offering our expert guidance and support to both you and your loved ones. Keep your loved one in the home they love while living with dementia, thanks to our specialist dementia carers.
You may think that your only option for respite care is going into residential support but that’s not the case with Helping Hands, as our friendly and compassionate carers come to you in your own home. Perhaps your regular carer needs to take a break, or your family are going on holiday – or perhaps you’re dipping your toe in the water of care to see if it suits you – but whatever the reason, even in an emergency, we can usually get care to you within 24 hours.
Ageing can mean that we begin to feel less agile as we used to and this can make certain tasks at home more tricky to complete than they used to be. For instance, pushing and carrying a vacuum cleaner, standing and preparing meals, getting in and out of the bath can all become more difficult as we age, meaning we’re at risk of not being able to look after ourselves effectively. Elderly care means we can support you fully in your own home with anything you need to make your life easier.
We believe our carers are the best in the business and when you see how dedicated they are and how often they go above and beyond to look after our customers, we know you’ll agree! We train them very carefully when they first join us and continue to refresh their skills throughout their employment so that they can apply wheat they’ve earnt into their customers’ care. We’re also fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission and Care Inspectorate Wales, so you can have full confidence in us to deliver the very highest standards of care.
Every one of our carers is a dementia specialist
