Home care in Stockton-on-Tees
Visiting care and home care in Stockton-on-Tees
Stockton-on-Tees has some amazing claims to fame; the fossilised remains of the most northerly hippopotamus ever discovered on Earth were discovered in Stockton-on-Tees in 1958, and it also became the site of the world’s first permanent steam-locomotive-powered passenger railway when the first rail of George Stephenson’s Stockton and Darlington Railway was laid in 1822.
At Helping Hands we’re proud of our heritage too and although we’re not yet as famous as Stockton-on-Tees, we’re well-known across all of England and Wales for our superlative standards of visiting and live-in care.

Branch Care Manager
As Branch Manager it is my responsibility to ensure the safe and effective day to day management of the branch, providing guidance and support to all branch staff, carers and customers. Within my role I aim to ensure compliance and quality for staff and customers is met in line with CQC standards and legislative requirements. I joined the care industry when my children became independent as I wanted to make a difference to people's lives and enable them to live independently and safely at home. I quickly built up professional relationships in the care sector and enjoyed the role of carer, this then inspired me to climb the career ladder, eventually taking the role of Branch Manager. I am proud to work for Helping Hands as it is a very family-orientated company with high values, plus the training and support is outstanding. I feel my team of carers are compassionate about their role and I am able to guide them along their journey. If I come across any obstacles then I will gain support to enable us to work together as a team. I have been married for 35 years and have 3 children, who have now provided us with 6 grandchildren. I enjoy rugby and support Saint Helens rugby league, and I like to attend the games when I am able to. I also enjoy holidays abroad and spending time with our friends at weekends.

Better than a care agency in Stockton-on-Tees
-
Because Helping Hands is not a home care agency and we directly employ all of our carers and staff, it motivates our teams to feel passionate about their roles and driven to achieve the best results possible for our customers. Not being an agency also means you also don’t have to pay us referral fees and other costs that agencies often demand, so you get better value care as a result.

-
Compassionate respite care
-
You may think that your only option for respite care is going into residential support but that’s not the case with Helping Hands, as our friendly and compassionate carers come to you in your own home. Perhaps your regular carer needs to take a break, or your family are going on holiday – or perhaps you’re dipping your toe in the water of care to see if it suits you – but whatever the reason, even in an emergency, we can usually get care to you within 24 hours.
-
Supportive elderly care
-
Ageing can mean that we begin to feel less agile as we used to and this can make certain tasks at home more tricky to complete than they used to be. For instance, pushing and carrying a vacuum cleaner, standing and preparing meals, getting in and out of the bath can all become more difficult as we age, meaning we’re at risk of not being able to look after ourselves effectively. Elderly care means we can support you fully in your own home with anything you need to make your life easier.

We believe our carers are the best in the business and when you see how dedicated they are and how often they go above and beyond to look after our customers, we know you’ll agree! We train them very carefully when they first join us and continue to refresh their skills throughout their employment so that they can apply wheat they’ve earnt into their customers’ care. We’re also fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission and Care Inspectorate Wales, so you can have full confidence in us to deliver the very highest standards of care.
