Visiting care and home care in Sutton Coldfield

Officially named The Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield by Henry VIII in 1528, this historic place is full of buildings and manors from a bygone era. Now classed as a district of Birmingham, Sutton (as it’s termed by the locals) was home to the late Doug Ellis, former Aston Villa Football Club Chairman and is now also home to one of the leading home care providers – Helping Hands.

Whether you require check-in visits from a companion just once per week, specialist care on a more regular basis, or a live-in carer for support around the clock, our Sutton Coldfield team are on hand to help. Get in touch today to find out how we can help you with a flexible care package tailored to your needs.

FAQs

Since 1989, our family-run company has been providing thousands of families with high-quality care for a range of different conditions and care needs. From dementia, Parkinson’s and stroke care to acquired brain injuries, mental health conditions, cerebral palsy and many more, we have the experience and expertise to help you when you most need it.

Person-centred care is what we specialise in, and we’ll work with you to put everything in place that works for you so that your care plan is tailored to your requirements. Even if you simply require assistance once a week to water your plants or to pop to the shops to get your weekly shopping, the Sutton Coldfield team can help.

Home care starts from 45 minutes per call up to several sessions a day to make sure you’re okay, providing peace of mind for both you and your loved ones. And if you have a more complex condition such as a stoma or PEG tube, our team of clinical nurses are on hand to support the team in delivering the right level of care for you.

Designed to give you freedom and to maintain your dignity, live-in care in Sutton Coldfield is crafted entirely around you. What’s more, we’ll work with you to make sure your live-in carer is able to support you with both your physical and emotional needs.

Live-in care enables you to lead the life you want to lead, without having to compromise on your independence. With no set menus or restrictions on when you can get up in the morning or go to bed, you’re at the forefront of your care making decisions that suit you.

Being able to live independently in your own home is what underpins our service. And just because you have care needs, it doesn’t mean that you have to forgo your favourite hobbies or give up your home comforts. Domiciliary care allows you to have regular visits that fit in with your routine, rather than having to adhere to someone else’s rules.

Whether you live alone, as a couple, with a friend or even a canine companion, we’ll work around you and offer worry-free, excellent care. We can even walk your dog too – that way, everyone’s happy!

Coming to terms with a dementia diagnosis can often be unsettling and quite daunting. As one of the UK’s leading dementia care specialists, we can help you to work out your next steps and ensure you get the best support for your needs.

Whether you have Pick’s disease, Alzheimer’s or vascular dementia, our team of expert carers understand how the symptoms of dementia vary from person to person. That’s why we’ll get to know you personally – from how you like your tea to what triggers any of your anxieties.

Just because you receive care, it doesn’t mean that what you love doing should be compromised. Whether it’s tending to your tomato plants, meeting up with friends or going for a stroll in Sutton Park, the team will enable you to continue living your life at your pace, with a little help along the way.

And if your care needs change, we can amend your care plan to reflect this and ensure that the right support is in place for you. Whether you need the addition of a live-in carer or respite care if you’re living as a couple, we’ll make sure you retain your independence and dignity with the help of our friendly team.

Respite care can cover a variety of scenarios – emergencies if your regular caregiver has to leave at short notice, support after a discharge from hospital or even to take over your care for a short period of time while your normal carer has a rest. Whatever the circumstances are, we can step in – often within as little as 24 hours from when you first get in contact with us – and deliver compassionate care that meets all of your requirements.

You may also be considering going on holiday or you might want to attend a wedding or party but are concerned about how you’ll get there safely and manage whilst you’re there. Worry not – the team can swiftly arrange for someone to accompany you wherever you’re going, whilst still getting the care you need.

For the past 30 years, we’ve worked extremely hard to make sure we enable as many people as possible to stay in their own homes, and that wouldn’t be possible without our fantastic workforce of carers. Selected for their expertise, kindness and unfaltering willingness to help others, all of our carers go through a strict recruitment process, including a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) screening. We only employ the very best because after all, we’re caring for you and your loved ones, so you deserve nothing less than the very best.

As the first and only home care provider to be awarded as a Centre of Excellence by Skills for Care, all of our carers receive top-of-the-range training by our in-house training teams, which covers manual handling, medication, dementia care, first aid and safeguarding. Alongside this, we regularly hold refresher courses for all of our carers, ensuring that they deliver care that is up-to-date and adheres to industry standards.

We’re very proud to be part of the Dementia Alliance and the United Kingdom Home Care Association (UKHCA), of which both are dedicated to improving the lives of those in need of support at home who are living with dementia and other conditions. We are also fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) who inspect all of our teams to ensure that we’re delivering a safe, effective and responsive service.
