Making A Difference to Those in Need

When you’re asked what motivates you to work in care you may just naturally have a desire to look after other people. Perhaps you don’t have a particular reason, but you’ve always known in your heart that caring for other people is what you want to do. Regardless of how you approach working in care, you will definitely have a passion for making a difference to people in need, by supporting our customers to remain as independent as possible in the homes they love.

At Helping Hands we’ve been providing care at home since 1989; supporting our customers’ dignity and independence for over 30 years. Therefore, you can have total confidence in us that we’ll give you all the support you need to make a real difference to the lives of everyone you care for.

Job Satisfaction

By joining Helping Hands you are guaranteed job satisfaction because we aren’t just one of the largest home care providers in the UK, we also pay one of the most competitive rates for our carers. You’ll have job satisfaction from the first day you begin supporting your customer because you’ll know you’re making a real difference to someone else’s life, and what could be more rewarding than that?

We’re not going to sugar-coat what you may experience as a carer and it’s not always an easy job, after all there’s lots of responsibility, challenges to be faced, and hard work. But the rewards are endless and the job satisfaction you can achieve is immeasurable. Our carers share key moments of our customers’ lives with them and support them daily to live the best life they possible can, filled with care, compassion and enjoyment.

Developing Skills

We don’t just support our customers to the best of our ability at Helping Hands, we also take care of our carers’ needs, both personal and professional. We have a whole range of employee support tools that can be accessed at any time that you need it, from discounts and promotions, to pay advances and great service awards.

We are also in the process of launching Helping Hands’ very own Training Academy which will support every employee’s professional development at each stage of their Helping Hands career.

You’ll also undertake the skills development you’ll need to fulfil your role, before you begin caring for your customers, or on the job while you do so. There will also be assistance for any additional needs your customer may have, which may be delivered on a one-to-one basis in your customers’ home by our assessors, managers or nurses.

Sense of Achievement

When you care for another person you give so much of yourself in every task you carry out, meaning that when you achieve the result you were hoping for you end up with a real sense of achievement. Whether you’re supporting your customer with their personal care, medication or meal preparation, helping them to access day services, or enjoying a favourite TV programme or singing along to music with them, your support will make all the difference to your customer’s life.

With your help, your customer will also enjoy a greater sense of achievement themselves with everything they wish to do in their life, so it’s a mutually beneficial relationship.
