How can our Live-in Carers in Newcastle help you?

A live-in carer stays in your home, providing steady assistance and companionship throughout your daily life. From morning routines to bedtime, they’re there to lend a hand where needed while encouraging you to remain as independent as possible.

Support might include personal care, preparing meals, organising medication, light cleaning, helping with mobility, accompanying you to appointments or social visits and offering emotional support. Just as importantly, they’ll take the time to get to know you, your preferences and what makes your day enjoyable.

Why you may need Live-in Care

You might choose live-in care because short visits no longer feel enough. Perhaps you’re living with a complex condition that requires regular oversight. Or maybe you’d simply prefer not to be alone overnight. For many, companionship is just as valuable as practical help. A friendly, familiar face each day can boost wellbeing and confidence. We carefully match carers and customers so there’s shared understanding and common ground from the start.

Short term home care support

You may find that you only require support little and often with the housework, cooking and shopping. Visiting care allows you to have care from 30 minutes per week to fit in with your existing routines and is an ideal way for those that are used to being independent to get used to having a care in your home. The Newcastle team are also able to be there overnight if you need help getting in and out of bed safely during the early hours, so that you can get a restful night’s sleep without worrying.

Intermittent long-term visits

Care requirements can change over time. If you only need live-in support during certain periods, we’re happy to organise this on a long-term but intermittent basis. We’ll aim to keep the same carer involved wherever possible, so you can build trust and familiarity.

Carers for immediate situations

When urgent support’s needed, we’ll act quickly. Typically we can put care in place within 72 hours and sometimes sooner. Even at short notice, we’ll make sure we fully understand your routines and expectations before your carer arrives.

Everything’s shaped around your lifestyle, helping you stay comfortable and confident in your own surroundings.

Choosing Helping Hands for Live-in Care

We employ all our carers directly, meaning no outsourcing and no agencies involved. Each carer is thoroughly vetted and professionally trained to meet our high standards.

You can feel confident knowing you’re receiving reliable, compassionate care from a team that genuinely cares about your wellbeing.

As well as an enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) screening, all of our new recruits undergo a practical and theoretical training programme where they learn the skills for personal care, moving and lifting, first aid, safeguarding, medication and many more.

Cost of Newcastle Live-in care

Our weekly live-in care costs are £1,675 for a single person and £2,125 for a couple. Many families find this represents strong value compared to residential care, especially for couples wishing to remain together.
