Nadine and Julia from the Ramsgate branch cared for a couple and their dog after being hit by a car.
‘‘Myself and Julia were in a car park when we heard what we thought was an injured dog. We ran to the top of the car park and saw Susan and Iain lying in the road with their puppy. A car had hit Iain and it was like a domino effect and they all went down.
We went over and sat monitoring them both whilst we waited for ambulances to arrive. Susan was very worried about Buddy the puppy, so my Care Co Tracey took him to the local vets to be checked.
After an hour and a half, we were surrounded by police, fire crews and an ambulance. We kept chatting with them to keep spirits up! We were laughing and joking with the emergency services to take Susan’s mind off what was going on, as Iain appeared to be in a bad way.
The first ambulance looked after Iain and then helped to get me out from behind Susan. This proved to be very comical as we had been sitting in the same position for 2 and ½ hours and I needed assistance from the fire crew and Julia!
Both were transferred to the hospital and the family were so grateful for the help and support we had given them, they took one of Tracey’s cards for future reference.
Three weeks later I was looking out of the office window when I saw Susan and Iain outside. I jumped up and was so excited I couldn’t get my words out to tell Tracey and Julia who it was.
Susan and Iain had come to find us to say thank you. They sat for about an hour, had a cup of tea and chatted. They later returned with flowers for each of us.
We were so pleased to see them up and well even with their bruises and that Buddy the puppy was so full of life. They are returning in May and would like to come to see us again.
They will be moving to Folkestone and want to stay in touch. Would we do it again? of course!!”
