A fully managed Alzheimer’s Care service
When you’re living with Alzheimer’s and you decide you require some level of care, the last thing you or your loved ones want is for the process to be complicated or time-consuming.
You need to know that when searching for a home care provider you are going to be supported by a company with dementia specialist carers, managers and support staff who will understand how your illness is likely to progress.
Helping Hands have been supporting people living with dementia to remain safely and comfortably in their own home since 1989, so you can be confident when we say we’ll always keep you at the centre of your care journey. Alzheimer’s is just one of over 100 different types of dementia, and while each can manifest with varying symptoms, the one you may notice first is a decline in memory.
This can be very upsetting for both the person and their loved ones, but our empathetic carers will know how best to support you, both physically and emotionally. We offer two types of care, visiting and live-in:
Visiting care means that you’ll have regular, prearranged visits from a carer who will then undertake all your care needs, before moving on to their next customer.
Live-in care means that you’ll have a carer living in your house with you, giving you and your loved ones the reassurance of around the clock company for you, as well as the same high levels of care as our visiting service. Don’t worry if you prefer peace and quiet though, as our live-in carers will respect the times when you’d rather be on your own, meaning they can undertake some other household task for you.
Our carers will follow your personalised support plan to ensure that your routines and requirements are always respected, offering reassurance for both you and your loved ones. Our carers will be able to undertake many tasks including medication administration, meal preparation, mobility support, personal care, housework and laundry, as well as much more.Request a callback Email us
How much does Alzheimer’s care cost?
Whether you decide to have care on a visiting or live-in basis, you will be supported by compassionate carers who are experienced in supporting people living with dementia. All of our carers undertake rigorous training when they begin working for us to ensure that they are best placed to help our customers live life to the fullest in their own home. Added to that, we are fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission and the Care Inspectorate Wales, meaning you can be fully confident in us to provide a fully managed and regulated service to you or your loved ones.
Alzheimer’s visiting care costs
Visiting care prices vary. You will have a bespoke quote created for you by one of your local care team once they have assessed your needs and requirements.
- Prices start from £20 per hour for one-to-one personal home care
- Flexible costs for visits lasting 30, 45 or 60 minutes
- Prices depend on your location and specific care needs, with differences for overnight care and support provided during weekends and bank holidays
- Call-out fee of £3.50 per visit to cover travel costs
- Free home visit from your local care specialist to assess your needs (for care lasting more than a month) and ongoing support from a dedicated contact to ensure you’re happy with our service
Alzheimer’s live-in care costs
Live-in Care costs vary depending on the level of support needed, but costs start from:
- £1,125 per week for a single person
- £1,425 per week for a couple
We are always upfront with our costs, meaning you know what your bill will contain, without any unpleasant surprises. When your package has been designed and the pricing communicated to you, that is what you’ll pay, without the worry of hidden fees.
How to pay for Alzheimer’s care
Whilst the majority of our customers pay for their care privately, we are able to accept direct payments, so if you’re receiving funding through social services and have opted for direct payments, we’re able to accept top-ups. This means that we can support you whatever your circumstances and help you to live your best life possible in the place you love most.
It’s important to note that we are also not a care agency; we directly employ all of our carers, leading to a more motivated workforce who can therefore concentrate on caring for our customers, instead of worrying about completing tax returns or other paperwork. You pay us and we pay our carers; simple!
